What You’ll Do
As Vice President, Associate General Counsel, you’ll focus on licensing for our portfolio of well-known fashion and lifestyle brands. You'll thrive in our fast-paced environment and articulate positions related to intellectual property (IP) licensing in a way that balances business needs with risk mitigation, with an eye on driving revenue and achieving results. You'll report to the Deputy General Counsel, and play a lead role in drafting and negotiating Authentic’s key deals (including IP license agreements) in tandem with Authentic’s Business Development, Brand Management, and M&A teams. The position also regularly interacts with Authentic’s IP Department and other internal business units (e.g., Marketing/Communications, Finance, Operations, etc.).
What you’ll be working on
- Lead role focused on independently drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering license and other agreements relating to IP (with an emphasis on trademarks), talent/endorsement/influencer agreements, amendments, renewals, customs/authorization letters, and a range of related commercial agreements.
- Supervising other legal team members (e.g., Counsel and/or Senior Counsel) by reviewing work product, ensuring timely delivery of work product, and providing training on internal processes, substantive skills, and soft skills
- Enabling Authentic’s business to timely achieve its targets, while respecting the company’s principles and applicable laws, and assisting in embedding these principles into the company’s processes and decisions
- Implementing and overseeing corporate policies, procedures, and programs
Must Haves
- 6-10+ years of hands-on complex IP licensing experience at a law firm and/or equivalent in-house experience at a consumer products, fashion, media/entertainment, or technology company
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and a valid license to practice law in New York State.
- Experience in the fashion, retail, entertainment, sports, and/or apparel industries is required. Experience in data / privacy law is a plus but is not required.
- Proven ability to accept and action instructions concerning both specific assignments and general policies.
- Demonstrative track record of ownership and accountability for projects, duties, and tasks.
- Detail-oriented, resourceful, adaptable, flexible, organized, discreet and cost-conscious problem solver who can remain calm and work under pressure.
- Organizing workflow and deadlines (including advising on priority and project management).
Primary Location Salary:
$200,000 - $250,000
