What You’ll Do
The IT Operations Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, maintenance, security, and reliable operation of computer systems, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud platforms. This role will also help troubleshoot issues as they arise and proactively manage upgrades, patches, and system optimizations. The IT Operations Engineer is also involved in leading and/or participating in IT projects and efforts, data retention/disaster recovery planning, data security, and providing tier II and III technical support to end-users including executives. We're looking for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, is eager to tackle a wide range of IT tasks and enjoys solving problems.
What you’ll be working on
- System Design, Maintenance & Monitoring:
- Recommend, test, design, configure, and maintain cloud-based systems and platforms to ensure maximum uptime, performance, and security.
- Monitor and maintain system performance, security, and availability.
- Periodically review platforms for upgrades and/or to recommend migrations.
- Schedule and apply patches and updates to maintain system health and security.
- Document and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Participate in the after-hours support rotation.
- Network & Security:
- Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure (firewalls, routers, switches, etc.).
- Ensure security practices are implemented and followed, including firewall management, user access control, and vulnerability assessments.
- Implement and maintain data retention and/or backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
- User Support:
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in Active Directory or similar identity management platforms.
- Provide Level II and III support to other teams within the IT department or users.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Superior service orientation and communication ability.
- Provide white-glove support to VIPs and executives.
- Server & Storage Management:
- Design, install, and manage servers (on-prem or cloud based), ensuring availability and optimal performance.
- Maintain and manage virtual environments or cloud platforms including provisioning, backups, and performance tuning.
- Manage and optimize storage solutions, including NAS, SAN, and cloud-based platforms.
- System Optimization:
- Continuously assess and optimize systems for improved efficiency and performance.
- Implement automation scripts or tools to streamline repetitive tasks (e.g., PowerShell, Bash scripting).
- Use APIs or similar technologies to extract, import, and/or analyze or report on data from various and diverse platforms.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
- Provide regular reporting on system performance, security incidents, and other relevant metrics to management.
- Project Planning & Management:
- Participate in the planning, execution, delivery, and maintenance of technical projects, including infrastructure upgrades, system implementations, software deployments, and/or cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with IT leadership, project stakeholders, and team members.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status reports and risk management plans.
- Vendor Management:
- Work with third-party vendors for hardware and software procurement, troubleshooting, and support as needed.
- Assist with license management, renewals, and software audits to ensure compliance.
Must Haves:
- 7+ years' experience in providing platform design, implementation, and support
- 5+ years’ experience in providing end-user support in mid-large business
- A self-starter ability to multitask, prioritize issues based on severity, and work within a fast-paced team environment
- Strong knowledge of cloud-based systems and concepts including but not limited to AWS, OneLogin, SSO, SCIM, MS365, Google Cloud, APIs
- Working knowledge of compliance including SOX
- Strong knowledge of Mac and Microsoft OS
- Approach users’ issues with empathy
- Box support experience (or equivalent with similar SaaS storage platform)
- Experience with automated management and deployment tools and software
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal guidance
- Thrives on technical challenges and takes pride in solving them
- Able to promptly and tactfully communicate with end users and management, provide solutions and/or direct requests of unresolved issues to appropriate IT team members
- Thorough understanding of hardware setup and software installations including Office 365, and account setup including email accounts, server access, and zero-trust access
- Outstanding organizational and time-management skills; you must be comfortable handling periods of high demand and expediting numerous priorities simultaneously
- Solid knowledge of cyber security, data privacy principles, and apparatus including Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, MFA, EDR, SIEM

- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Primary Salary Location:
$125,000 - $155,000
