New

Applied AI Product Manager - New York

New York City

Location: New York City Innovation Hub (In-person)

About This Opportunity

We’re assembling an exceptional team of AI product leaders in NYC. The kind of people who’ve shipped breakthrough AI products that millions actually use and other top PMs seek out as collaborators. This isn’t about typical product management roles or career advancement perks. It’s about working alongside some of the most talented product minds and engineers in AI, solving fascinating problems at unprecedented scale.

You'll collaborate in-person with a carefully selected group designed for breakthrough thinking, backed by the resources and reach of Automattic's ecosystem, spanning WordPress.com, WooCommerce, Tumblr, and more. Think of it as an elite AI lab with the distribution and impact that comes with serving hundreds of millions of users.

What You'll Do

  • Define and ship AI experiences across multiple Automattic products, from established platforms to emerging bets that push the boundaries of what’s possible.
  • Work directly with engineers to rapidly prototype and iterate, bridging user needs with technical possibilities.
  • Drive experimentation at scale across diverse user bases, learning faster than competitors through rapid iteration.
  • Move fast on breakthrough ideas; design, ship, and measure AI features that set new standards in their categories.
  • Scale successful innovations by integrating proven concepts into core product roadmaps.
  • Push the boundaries of what product management looks like when exceptional talent works together.

You’ll Excel Here If You

  • Have shipped AI products users love; you know the difference between demos and features that fundamentally change how millions of people interact with each other.
  • Are exceptionally talented; you’re the PM other great product leaders want to collaborate with.
  • Are deeply technical without coding; discuss model architecture and system constraints as fluently as user experience and business metrics.
  • Move fast and think big; prototype quickly while architecting for massive scale.
  • Thrive on working with other exceptional people rather than just seeking comfortable product environments.
  • Think like a builder; comfortable with ambiguity, turning ambitious visions into shippable realities.

Experience We’re Looking For

  • 4-6+ years in product management with 2+ years shipping AI/ML-powered features that reached significant scale.
  • Track record of exceptional product impact; features or products you’ve shipped that meaningfully changed user behavior. (Be prepared to explain how!)
  • Strong technical fluency; create detailed mockups, analyze complex data, understand API constraints, and communicate sophisticated ideas clearly to engineers.
  • Experience working across multiple products with diverse technical architectures and user needs.
  • Proven ability to work with top-tier engineering talent and contribute meaningfully to technical discussions.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Accelerate AI integration across our “Other Bets” portfolio, working with engineering teams to identify and ship transformative features.
  • Define MVP approaches for AI in core products like WordPress.com and WooCommerce that set new industry standards.
  • Build experimentation frameworks for rapid testing and learning across massive user bases.
  • Create the product intelligence systems that help our teams see around corners and move faster than competitors.

Why This Role Matters

Shape AI transformation for hundreds of millions of users across creative, commerce, and communication experiences. Work on the kinds of product challenges that define entire categories: making content creation fundamentally more accessible, reimagining customer support, and helping small businesses access capabilities that were previously enterprise-only.

You’ll have the resources and reach to tackle problems most product managers can only dream about, alongside a team selected specifically for their ability to push boundaries.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
