Manager, Business Development (BDRs)
OVERVIEW
Automox is seeking a results-driven Business Development Leader to mentor, develop, and lead a team of remote, early-career sales professionals (BDRs). This team plays a crucial role in Automox’s new business motion via outbound prospecting, generating pipeline opportunities for our Commercial, Enterprise, and Majors Account Executives.
As a key leader within the sales organization, you will be responsible for driving pipeline growth, optimizing early-stage sales processes, developing future sales talent, and fostering a high-energy, performance-driven culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and manage a team of BDRs, ensuring they consistently meet and exceed pipeline generation targets.
- Provide hands-on coaching, mentorship, and professional development to help BDRs refine core sales skills, including cold calling, personalization, early-stage qualification, and value-based selling.
- Design and implement structured training programs to accelerate ramp-up time and enhance overall team performance.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, team meetings, and small-group enablement sessions to support a remote BDR team.
- Maintain visibility into key KPIs, prospecting strategies, and performance trends, ensuring alignment with goals and continuous process improvement.
Pipeline & Performance Management:
- Own the BDR team’s pipeline generation goals and ensure alignment with broader sales objectives.
- Monitor and analyze key performance metrics (e.g., intent signals, call activity, conversion rates, pipeline contribution, deals won) and adjust strategies to optimize outcomes.
- Partner closely with AE teams and leaders to ensure high-quality opportunity handoffs and strong alignment on target accounts or shared campaigns.
- Partner closely with Account Based Marketing teams and Sales Operations to ensure constant system-side optimization of core outbound motions and territory structures
- Implement and reinforce best practices, outbound frameworks, and process enhancements to drive a high-impact outbound motion in a competitive space
Recruiting & Retention:
- Proactively recruit, onboard, and develop top talent to maintain a high-performing team.
- Foster a collaborative and motivating team culture that emphasizes performance, recognition, and continuous learning.
- Develop strategies to improve employee engagement, career development, and retention.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- 3+ years of leadership experience in Sales Development, Business Development, or Inside Sales.
- Proven track record of leading and scaling high-performing outbound sales teams.
- A passion for coaching and developing early-career sales professionals in a remote work environment.
- Ability to create a high-energy, motivational team culture while ensuring accountability for results.
- Strong data-driven mindset, with experience using performance data to drive continuous improvement in people and processes.
- Experience working within CRM and sales engagement platforms (Salesforce, Outreach, ZoomInfo, Sales Navigator, 6sense, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, and ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Self-starter with executive presence, capable of driving initiatives independently and in a timely manner.
The range listed is the on target earning (OTE) potential. OTE is a mix of base pay and variable pay earned based on meeting sale's goals. In addition to OTE our compensation package includes equity and variety of great benefits. Actual earnings may be less or more depending on a candidate's direct experience, skills, industry knowledge, and location. Details of the OTE split will be shared during the interview process.
Sales OTE range
$180,000 - $220,000 USD
LOCATION
We are a fully distributed company of remote workers with concentrated hubs in Austin, TX, Tampa, FL, and Boulder, CO. We are in the process of establishing small collaboration spaces in these locations to provide opportunities for in-person discussions and team building when needed.
