Group Financial Controller (m/f/d)

In this role, you will report to and work closely with the Group CFO. You will be responsible for a group accounting team of 15 directly, with global accounting resources of 70+. The scope includes oversight of: Group Financial Control, Accounting, Group Systems, Shared Services. This is a critical leadership position that will shape the financial infrastructure of a high-growth organization in the digital automotive marketplace. 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • External reporting: Deliver timely, compliant high quality quarterly and annual reports. 
  • Accounting Policies: Lead the evolution of accounting practices to embrace new business models, propositions, and acquisitions, setting the financial framework for future growth. 
  • Financial consolidation: Direct the consolidation of AutoScout24’s ~50 entities, ensuring a cohesive financial narrative across all business units. Deliver timely, accurate monthly and quarterly reporting. 
  • Updated financial reporting and knowledge: Work closely with your team to deepen understanding and application of current and emerging accounting policies/IFRS recommendations, ensuring reporting evolves with our business. 
  • Internal controls: Oversee AutoScout24’s growing Internal Control function, safeguarding against financial risk and ensuring operational excellence. 
  • Systems: Senior executive ownership for ERP systems and processes. 
  • Taxation: Define and lead the company’s transfer pricing and VAT strategy across markets. 
  • Audit relationships: Act as senior liaison with external auditors, ensuring a smooth audit process and addressing findings proactively. 
  • Audit planning: Organize and conduct Audit Committee meetings, preparing strategic insights and responses. 
  • Financing activities: Provide critical support for financing activities and equity transactions, contributing to our strategic financial planning and execution. 
  • Team leadership: Lead and inspire a dedicated team of accounting & internal control professionals, fostering a culture of excellence & continuous improvement. 

What you should bring 

Experiences and Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of leadership as well as strategic and operational expertise. They demonstrate ownership, commitment and resilience, and have a hands-on approach to leading the delivery of a deep and broad agenda. An individual with a proven track record, who will continually strive for excellence, is highly sought after. 

  • ACA qualified, with previous experience from one of the big four accounting firms. 
  • Track record of achievement in a European listed company in a Group Financial Controller or Group Head of Accounting or equivalent role. Prior IPO experience helpful, but not essential 
  • Excellent and up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards, particularly IFRS, as well as tax legislation. 
  • Strong leadership credentials and able to operate at board level, with a proven record of building high-performing teams in international and global environments. 
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with the executive leadership team, country management teams, local finance directors, and other group functions. 
  • Fluency in English required. Proficiency in additional languages is an advantage but is not mandatory.
