Looking to join a world-class blockchain development team? Ava Labs makes it simple to deploy high-performance solutions for Web3, led by innovations on Avalanche. The company was founded by Cornell computer scientists, who partnered with Wall Street veterans and early Web3 leaders to execute a promising vision for redefining the way people build permissionless networks. Ava Labs is redefining the way people create value with Web3. Join us as we empower people to easily and freely digitize all the world’s assets on one open, programmable blockchain platform.

Ava Labs is seeking a precision-driven, crypto-fluent Digital Assets Accountant who thrives in fast-moving, high-accountability environments. This role is foundational to the accuracy and integrity of our crypto reconciliations, with deep exposure to sub-ledgers, wallets, and on-chain activity. You’ll take ownership of digital asset accounting across wallets, chains, and custodians - bringing structure to complexity and clarity to every transaction. Your role is not just about numbers, but about contributing to our mission and success in the blockchain technology space, where the unique challenges of crypto transactions await.

You will work closely with the Finance team and other cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate reconciliation, classification, and reporting of crypto transactions. If you thrive in ambiguity, enjoy diving into the details of transaction data, and take pride in precision, this role is not just a job, but an exciting opportunity for continuous learning and growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

At Ava Labs, we don’t just record data - we create understanding. We expect you to operate with a sense of urgency, precision, and self-discipline in everything from reconciliations to audits. Our leaders rely on accurate data to make quick decisions - your work should be decision-ready, not just complete. As a Digital Assets Accountant, your role is pivotal in shaping our strategic decisions.

  • Reconcile Digital Asset Activity: Own and reconcile crypto transaction flows across wallets, exchanges, and custodians using Bitwave and NetSuite. Ensure completeness and accuracy - no loose ends.
  • Wallet Monitoring & Reporting:  Maintain auditable records of wallet balances and ownership across entities. You’re the first line of clarity on asset movement.
  • Journal Entries & Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries for digital asset activity, including, but not limited to, revenue, blockchain fees, staking, bridging, grants, and internal transfers.
  • Classification & Tagging: Apply consistent, principle-based accounting logic to complex blockchain transactions (e.g., DeFi activity, airdrops, token launches, vesting), drawing on GAAP, IFRS, and crypto-native economic substance. You know the rules - and when to flag ambiguity.
  • Data Diagnostics & Risk Sensing: Combine pattern recognition with precision to identify discrepancies, gaps, or anomalies in transaction flows. You’re expected to flag issues proactively and suggest resolution paths - clarity is your currency.
  • Collaboration is key in this role. You'll be working closely with the Treasury, Engineering, and Business Development teams to validate data and ensure smooth operations. You're not just a number cruncher – you ask insightful questions and ensure that all loose ends are tied up, making you an integral part of our team.
  • Audit Support: Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and documentation to support internal and external audits of digital assets, ensuring data accuracy and completeness. Maintain clear, auditable documentation of reconciliation logic, accounting assumptions, and supporting schedules to ensure future traceability and transparency.
  • Policy Adherence: At Ava Labs, we take compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures related to digital assets seriously. As a Digital Assets Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our operations are always above board.
  • Communicate Reconciliation Risks: Proactively surface discrepancies, unusual transactions, or classification risks to Finance leadership. You bring visibility, not surprises, to the data flow.
  • Process Improvement: Assist in standardizing and documenting digital asset accounting procedures to support business growth and expansion.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally with at least 1 year working in crypto, fintech, or digital assets
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, with experience applying it to non-traditional assets
  • Hands-on experience with crypto wallets, exchanges, and sub-ledger platforms (e.g., Bitwave, others)
  • Comfortable working with blockchain explorers (e.g., Etherscan, Snowtrace) to trace transactions.
  • High attention to detail, strong organization skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excel/Google Sheets power user; bonus if you’ve worked with SQL or APIs
  • Proven ability to operate independently in ambiguous or fast-paced environments - you don’t just flag problems; you fix them.
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills - your work should speak clearly even when you’re not in the room.
  • High-output mindset: You finish what you start, think through edge cases, and avoid “just doing the task.”

CULTURAL ALIGNMENT

At Ava Labs, precision and ownership aren’t optional = they’re expected. We’re a startup at the frontier of finance and crypto, which means everyone is responsible for both execution and clarity. This high bar challenges us all to perform at our best. You don’t wait to be told what to do = you ask sharp questions, solve problems proactively, and follow through without reminders. We value team members who bring energy, rigor, and reliability to every task, no matter how small. If you're someone who doesn't just identify problems, but actively seeks solutions, you'll be a great fit.

If you thrive in high-accountability environments, want to grow by doing real work from day one, and are excited about shaping the accounting systems of the decentralized future, you’ll fit right in.

Salary Range: $90,092 to $112,615

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
