The Avalanche Foundation is at the forefront of innovation in Web3, blockchain, and decentralized technologies. We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Operations Manager to join our legal team. This is a unique opportunity for a legal professional with a passion for the crypto, blockchain, or Web3 ecosystem to help shape and streamline the legal department in a fast-moving, highly collaborative, and global organization.

As our first dedicated legal operations hire, you will have the chance to build critical infrastructure from the ground up, implement technology solutions, and drive operational excellence to ensure the legal team’s success. This role is fully remote and can be based anywhere outside of the United States, allowing you to work from your home location while contributing to our global mission.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Operational Strategy and Implementation:

  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable processes, workflows, and tools to support the legal department's growth and efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with other teams across the foundation (e.g., compliance, business development, and engineering) to align legal operations with organizational goals

Contract Lifecycle Management:

  • Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, from drafting templates to managing approvals, negotiations, and final execution
  • Maintain a centralized repository for contracts and legal documents, ensuring organization and easy access

Legal Technology & Tools:

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage legal technology solutions, such as contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools, e-billing platforms, and compliance software
  • Stay up to date with cutting-edge tools tailored to blockchain/Web3 organizations and recommend solutions that fit our needs

Compliance & Policy Development:

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and managing compliance programs and internal policies, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements in the blockchain and crypto space
  • Contribute to drafting and maintaining training materials for internal teams

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage cross-functional projects involving legal input, ensuring that deadlines and deliverables are met efficiently
  • Track and prioritize initiatives to keep the legal team on top of organizational needs

Knowledge Management & Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain a library of legal templates, playbooks, and reference materials
  • Establish / monitor KPIs and create insightful reports to measure the performance and effectiveness of the legal department

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Professional Experience:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in legal operations, contract management, paralegal work, or related roles in a corporate legal department, law firm, or similar environment.
  • Direct experience in the Web3, blockchain, or crypto industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with startups or in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the crypto/blockchain ecosystem, preferred.
  • Proficiency in legal tech tools, including contract management systems (e.g., Ironclad, DocuSign CLM), e-billing platforms, and productivity tools (e.g., Notion, Slack, or Asana).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in a related field).
  • Additional legal certifications (e.g., paralegal certification) or specialized training in legal operations are a plus.

Salary Range: $120,000 to $150,000
