Experience / Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 10 years + experience in real estate development, construction lending, or related fields
  • Demonstrated experience with homebuilder finance products specifically A&D loans and landbanking transactions
  • Strong rolodex of c-suite relationships across the homebuilder and land developer space
  • Strong understanding of homebuilder business models and development economics
  • Experience managing construction projects
  • Track record of successful project management 

Preferred Experience

  • Background specifically in homebuilder financing/ residential development
  • Familiarity with construction methods, timelines, and cost structures for residential projects
  • Knowledge of entitlement processes 
  • Familiarity with the needs of institutional investors

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong financial analysis capabilities, including cash flow modeling and risk assessment
  • Excellent project management skills with attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication and relationship management abilities
  • Ability to identify and solve problems proactively
  • Understanding of real estate market dynamics and construction economics

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Construction Management, or related field
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (MBA, CCIM, PMP) a plus

Job Description

We seek a Director - Homebuilder Finance to drive transaction originations across the land developer and homebuilder space (top 200 homebuilders). The successful candidate will have an existing rolodex of relationships across the industry together with experience in acquisition and development (A&D) lending, land banking, JV equity and/ or construction lending. 

In addition to deal origination, underwriting and transaction structuring, Director - Homebuilder Finance will have responsibilities for overseeing transaction execution and helping to oversee ongoing asset management and servicing. transaction execution and ongoing asset management for our homebuilder financing platform. 

Core Responsibilities: 

Lead generation

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of relationships across top 200 homebuilders and land developers
  • Drive A&D lending opportunities with target land developers and homebuilders 
  • Validate builder quality, experience and project fundamentals
  • Work within the team to form an initial assessment of project viability and transaction structure
  • Analyze local market conditions and provide insights to inform opportunity selection
  • Over time help to broaden the funnel of investment opportunities to encompass additional homebuilder finance products such as landbanking, jv equity and AD&C loans

Deal Underwriting & Transaction Structuring

  • Work within the team to underwrite investment opportunities, and business plans helping lead the creation of deal memos, cash flow models and transaction timelines
  • Work with key third parties to coordinate market studies, cost to complete studies, appraisals etc
  • Work within the team to design transaction structures, terms and key structural protections together with fee and asset management/ servicing models for the deal
  • Assist the team to present transactions to potential capital partners and work with them through their underwriting/ risk processes

Project Oversight & Risk Management

  • Establish appropriate governance structures to monitor business plan, budget and transaction progress/ timelines
  • Using our construction software, review and approve draw requests, verifying completed work against disbursement requests
  • Coordinate third-party site inspections and progress against plan
  • Identify potential schedule, budget, or execution risks proactively
  • Implement solutions to address challenges before they impact project timelines

Portfolio Management & Reporting

  • Track project performance metrics across the assigned portfolio
  • Work within the team to produce regular performance reports for capital partners and internal stakeholders
  • Document lessons learned and best practices to improve future projects

Salary Range 

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $175,00 - $230,000 USD. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
