Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Manager of Business Application Development to lead and oversee our team of business application administrators and developers. This role is critical to the seamless operation of our company, as the team is responsible for the configuration, integration, and enhancement of all third-party software used across our business units. The Manager will ensure that all applications meet the organization’s business needs, deliver efficient user experiences, and support the company’s strategic objectives.

What you'll do
 

  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of application administrators and developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
    • Define team goals, assign responsibilities, and manage delivery to align with strategic objectives.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, set development plans, and guide the career progression of team members.
  • Application Development & Administration
    • Oversee the management, configuration, integration, testing and deployment of all third-party business applications used by the company.
    • Collaborate with domain leads and business stakeholders to understand requirements, develop technical solutions, and drive continuous improvements.
    • Develop, implement, and enforce best practices, standards, and processes for application management and development to ensure scalability, security, and efficiency.
  • Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Lead resource allocation and estimation to contribute to budgeting and roadmaps for business application development initiatives.
    • Partner with security, software engineering, platform engineering, architecture and product teams to ensure seamless application integrations and adherence to security protocols.
  • Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement
    • Contribute to long-term roadmaps for the evolution of business applications to meet the changing needs of the organization.
    • Stay current on technology trends, assess new tools, and recommend upgrades or replacements to ensure an efficient and modern application portfolio.
    • Drive initiatives to automate and streamline business application development and administration processes, enhancing overall efficiency and user satisfaction.
  • Vendor Management
    • Partner with Vendor Management to manage relationships with third-party software & staffing vendors, ensuring service level agreements are met and issues are addressed promptly.
    • Manage contract resources as appropriate ensuring resources are meeting performance expectations.

What we're looking for 

  • Demonstrated experience managing third-party business applications across various business functions, including finance, HR, sales, and operations.
  • Strong technical expertise in enterprise software solutions, system integrations, and API management.
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven ability to deliver on complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL) is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in application development and administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Experience with a broad suite of business applications (e.g., ERP, CRM, HCM, Work Management, Business Process Automation, Contact Center and Productivity systems and tools).
  • Knowledge of security and compliance considerations for enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and SaaS solutions.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI and it’s integration into business application capabilities.
