About the Team
Avride is a rapidly growing company in the autonomous vehicle and delivery robot industry. We develop autonomous vehicle technology from the ground up, leveraging the strong technical expertise of our core team and over seven years of experience in the field. The Calibration Team ensures our vehicles maintain precise sensor calibration through a combination of algorithms and quality assurance processes — a critical function for scaling autonomous driving safely and reliably. We are looking for calibration QA Engineer who are ambitious and motivated to help Avride achieve its mission of delivering autonomous mobility at scale.
About the Role
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to maintain the accuracy of Avride’s sensor calibration across our expanding autonomous fleet. You will guide calibration data collection, run calibration algorithms, prepare ground-truth, ensure calibration quality, and train employees. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver, skilled in performing complex calibrations, diagnosing sensor issues, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
- Guide calibration data collection, troubleshoot issues, review logs, run calibration processes and check calibration results.
- Monitor algorithm launches, identify and report errors, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Assist in testing, improving, and maintaining calibration algorithms and workflows.
- Author instructional materials and lead employee training sessions.
- Ensure high-quality calibration results and provide feedback on any imperfections.
- Occasionally help with collecting calibration data for new sensor types using specialized equipment.
What You'll Need
- 2+ years in a technical role (QA Engineer, Data Analyst, Technical Support, or similar) with experience in data validation, root cause analysis, or quality assurance for complex systems.
- Proficiency with Linux basics (command line, Git, SSH).
- Familiarity with lidar, radar, and camera data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to trace issues from symptoms to their root cause.
- High consistency and accuracy in repetitive tasks, with exceptional visual-spatial reasoning to spot subtle data misalignments.
- Motivation to learn and proactively improve processes, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic Python and SQL skills.
- Experience with robotics or autonomous vehicles, including sensor calibration or data collection.
- Experience training, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to others.
- Experience with Notion, Slack, YouTrack, ClickHouse, Grafana and Argo.
