About the Team
At Avride, we create cutting-edge solutions for self-driving cars and mobile delivery robots.
Our Hardware Design & Manufacturing team is pivotal in shaping the future of autonomous
transportation. We focus on developing innovative hardware and infrastructure components that integrate
seamlessly into our autonomous platforms, enabling safer, more efficient operations.
About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and refine the specialized equipment and
devices installed on our autonomous vehicles, as well as optimize their manufacturing processes. You
will collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in prototype assembly and testing, and see your
work directly impact the performance and reliability of our autonomous systems.
What You'll Do
- Design Specialized Hardware Modules: Create and improve add-on components
and supporting systems that integrate with self-driving vehicles and delivery robots. - Optimize Production Costs and Processes: Identify opportunities to reduce costs
and refine manufacturing workflows for hardware components. - Develop Next-Generation Equipment: Contribute to research and development
for future hardware solutions, supporting new features and operational needs. - Prototype Assembly and Testing: Participate in test assemblies, including 3D
printing and on-vehicle testing, to validate and refine hardware designs. - Ensure Reliability and Safety: Conduct product testing to meet stringent
reliability, safety, and quality standards. - Support Fleet Infrastructure: Design and implement hardware solutions that
streamline fleet operations and enhance infrastructure capabilities.
What You'll Need
- CAD Proficiency: Strong skills in SolidWorks (experience with SolidWorks PDM is
a plus). - Educational/Professional Background: Degree or hands-on experience in
Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Instrument Engineering, or a related field.
Automotive or aerospace experience is a plus but not required. - Manufacturing Expertise: Proficiency in machining, sheet metal work, additive
manufacturing, casting, and composite materials, with a solid understanding of
manufacturing limitations. - Knowledge of ISO Standards: Familiarity with ISO design documentation and
best practices. - Hands-On Skills: Comfortable working with hand and power tools, able to
assemble devices and components independently. - 3D Printing Experience: Experience with additive processes—from design to
printing and testing.
What We Offer
- AI and Autonomous Driving Exposure: Learn about the role of AI in autonomous
vehicles and stay ahead of emerging industry trends. - Tangible Impact: Witness the direct impact of your work on daily operations as
hardware devices power our autonomous fleets. - Interdisciplinary Growth: Explore technologies at the intersection of electronics,
optics, and mechanics to broaden your technical skill set. - Full Product Lifecycle Involvement: Engage in all stages of product development
—from R&D through to mass production. - Global Collaboration: Work with American and international manufacturers, with
potential opportunities for business travel abroad.
