About the Role

As a Remote Assistance Operator, you’ll play an important role in supporting our autonomous vehicle fleet as we continue the transition toward fully driverless operations. You’ll work onsite at our state-of-the-art Remote Operations Center in North Austin, a modern, tech-forward workplace with amenities including an onsite lunchroom stocked with snacks and refreshments and complimentary coffee service.

Working from a dedicated computer workstation alongside a team of Remote Assistance Operators, you’ll monitor live video feeds and real-time data from autonomous vehicles operating on public roads. You’ll maintain awareness of vehicle activity, identify situations that may require human assistance, and troubleshoot or escalate technical and operational issues as they arise. You’ll also document interventions and unusual events and assist with post-incident reviews.

Available Shifts:

Expected Pay Amount:   $25.00 USD Per Hour

Available Shifts:

  • AM shift:  5:30am - 2:00pm, Tuesday-Saturday
  • AM shift:  6:00am - 3:00pm, Saturday-Wednesday
  • PM shift:  2:30pm - 11:30pm, Wednesday-Sunday
  • PM shift:  2:30pm - 11:30pm, Tuesday-Saturday
  • PM shift:  3:30pm - 12:00am, Friday-Tuesday

What You'll Do

  • Actively monitor an assigned vehicle using the Remote Command (RC) interface and multiple camera feeds.
  • Proactively intervene when necessary using system tools.
  • Log all interventions and key observations in real time (Notion/Google Sheets).
  • Conduct post-trip reviews and flag any anomalies.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions and contribute to the edge-case knowledge base.
  • Track and report operational metrics.
  • Ensure a clean shift handoff by communicating key context to the incoming Shift Lead.

What You'll Need

  • 1+ year of experience in a live operations environment, such as autonomous vehicle fleet operations, teleoperations, dispatch, systems monitoring, or a similar real-time role
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues and documenting escalations
  • Comfortable monitoring live camera feeds or system data to identify and respond to issues in real time
  • Experience using Jira, YouTrack, or similar ticketing systems
  • Basic understanding of U.S. traffic laws and right-of-way rules
  • Clean driving record
  • Strong written communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or transportation technology
  • Familiarity with AV data annotation, triage, or AI training workflows
  • Technical background in robotics, automotive/EV systems, avionics, IT/network operations, or military UAV operations
  • Experience participating in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or incident post-mortem reviews

Where You'll Work:

  • On-site work from the Remote Operations Center in Austin, TX
  • Rotating shifts, including weekends
  • Availability for both morning and evening shifts required (schedule flexibility preferred)

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed through our trusted Employer of Record partner, who manages payroll, benefits, and local compliance on our behalf. You will work day-to-day with the Avride team and be fully integrated into our culture and operations. This job is onsite and available to local candidates.
