Purpose of the position

Weʼre looking for an experienced Software Engineer to help accelerate the delivery of our new embedded analytics and reporting capabilities for our brand new Affiliate Marketing platform.

You will be joining Team Copper in our Insights Tribe, part of the Growth Domain. This team are dedicated to creating data and analytics solutions to answers to our customers questions. As the team responsible for delivering some of the most in-demand features for our customers, your work here will be visible and every change you make can have a positive impact on our customers.

Team Copper practice scrum and youʼll have the opportunity to bring new ideas to the team whether this is introducing alternative ways to solve problems, enhancements to our ways of working, or bringing new insights to your teammates in the best practices for a new technology. Along with access to the OʼReilly learning platform, hackathons, and cross-team initiatives, will provide plenty of opportunities to learn and gain experience from people in the many other teams across the engineering department at Awin

Responsibilities

  • Working within one of our agile Engineering teams, this role reports to an Engineering Manager.
  • You will collaborate closely with other engineers,  and product managers to design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and well-tested software for our award-winning marketing platform.
  • You are responsible for writing clean, secure and well-tested code.
  • You follow best-practice guidelines and help to improve those guidelines, your code is open by default and easy for others to reuse.
  • You are part of a team and with the team extend, maintain and operate assigned parts of our platform.
  • You coach and mentor more junior colleagues, participate in knowledge-sharing activities both within your team and the wider Engineering practice.
  • You have a good understanding of the user needs within your service and work with the product owner and other team members to translate these into technical solutions.
  • You work through the entire lifecycle of a service or product, from understanding requirements, development to deployment, support and maintenance.
  • You show an understanding for deadlines, find pragmatic solutions and are proactive in raising potential risks.
  • You will help the team in solving the challenges that arise as our business grows and develops; working together to ensure the service continues to meet the needs of our business and its customers.

Hard Skills

Required

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in commercial Software Engineering roles.
  • Good experience working with front-end code, ideally using Angular.
  • Extensive experience in developing cloud software using:
    • AWS services - Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, Opensearch
    • Terraform for writing Infrastructure as Code scripts
    • Typescript
    • Java v21 with Maven, and Spring Boot v3
    • Docker
  • Understanding of relational database design principles, SQL query optimisation, and proficiency in SQL and non-relational databases like DynamoDB.
  • Experience and an enthusiasm for using and finding new ways to use AI tools to augment software development practices.
  • Experience using Git for source control Passion for writing elegant code and a desire to constantly refactor and improve, with a good understanding of the SOLID principles.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs within a microservices architecture.Ability to conduct a thorough code review process, write unit tests and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiar with agile processes, Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience in monitoring applications (preferably using Cloudwatch and Datadog). 

Nice to have

  • Experience with low-latency, high availability systems.
  • Knowledgeable about information security, able to design and implement solutions with mitigation against security threats.
  • Knowledge of TDD and Pair Programming practices.
  • Experience working with PHP, including building and maintaining web applications.
  • Experience with cache solutions such as Redis, Memcached, or other.
  • Experience with streaming and queuing solutions (ideally Kafka, Kinesis or SQS)
