KDB+/Q Developers work closely with researchers and traders to design, implement, test and maintain Axi's service-oriented kdb+ architecture. The role is responsible for building robust, scalable infrastructure that exposes real-time and historical data to users globally.

This role will own key parts of the production infrastructure and acts as Level 2+ support for critical services during trading hours, requiring both strong technical capability and sound judgement under pressure.

Your EDGE Assignment/You Will

Design & Development

  • Design and build modules, new functionalities and features within the kdb+ ecosystem, contributing to architectural decisions and technical design reviews.
  • Develop post-trade analytics, real-time data pipelines and reporting solutions to meet the latency and accuracy requirements of trading and research teams.
  • Build tooling to monitor system health, data quality and query performance.

Performance & Optimisation

  • Profile and optimise kdb+ queries and data models to maintain fast query execution as data volumes grow.
  • Identify and implement solutions to address performance bottlenecks across storage, in-memory processing and inter-process communication

Production Support

  • Provide Level 2+ support for critical services during trading hours, ensuring rapid diagnosis and resolution of incidents within agreed timeframes.
  • Interact closely with product owners and the business to research, coordinate and resolve production issues.
  • Maintain runbooks, alerting and monitoring coverage for owned services.

Collaboration & Ownership

  • Own the full software development lifecycle for assigned components from requirements and design through to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
  • Partner with researchers, traders and product owners to translate data requirements into well-engineered solutions.
  • Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.

Are you the one? 

  • Strong hands-on experience in KDB+/Q development with good understanding of kdb architecture and infrastructure.
  • Experience building and supporting real-time and historical market data systems in trading or financial environments.
  • Ability to develop and optimize high-performance kdb+ applications, analytics, and data pipelines.
  • Strong production support experience, including Level 2+ support, incident management, and troubleshooting critical systems during trading hours.
  • Good understanding of query optimization, system monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments and managing production systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, ownership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Prior exposure to low-latency trading or market data platforms is highly preferred
