Position Title: Supply Chain Manager
This is an on-site position in Grand Rapids, MI. Axis does not currently offer remote positions or relocation assistance.

As the Supply Chain Manager, you will oversee all aspects of supply chain operations including facilities management, shipping/receiving, and information technology. This role requires a proactive mindset, sense of urgency, strategic leadership, and a commitment to delivering efficacy and cost-effectiveness across multiple resource areas.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supply Chain Operations:
    • Manage the complete supply chain workflow, including supplier requisitioning, robust negotiation, order processing, confirmation management, and delivery acceptance.
    • Develop and maintain vendor relationships while strongly negotiating competitive pricing and terms.
    • Successfully execute time-sensitive supply chain needs with a sense of urgency as driven by a spectrum of project circumstances.
    • Track performance metrics and cost opportunities and across existing and potential suppliers.
  • Shipping/Receiving:
    • Manage shipping/receiving operations to ensure accurate and timely receiving, organization and distribution of parts and materials supporting all Axis operational departments
    • Implement and maintain efficient processes for inventory control and logistics support
  • Facilities and Information Technology:
    • Manage the internal IT Helpdesk Technician, procurement and maintenance of IT hardware, software, and infrastructure, and collaboration with IT service providers.
    • Oversee vendor contracts and service agreements related to facilities repairs and maintenance
  • Departmental Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with Engineering and Build departments to source vendors aligned with technical requirements and project goals.
    • Partner with Project Management to ensure alignment with project schedules and budgets.
    • Support Applications Engineering in finding competitive supply chain solutions to help new business.
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Utilize data to make informed supply chain decisions that support company profitability and growth.
    • Investigate projects and initiatives to strengthen our long-term supply chain strategy including vendor relationship incubation, working capital management, and building negotiation leverage.
    • Evaluation and execution of low-cost country sourcing initiatives for targeted components
    • Collaboration organizing and improving annual open house featuring key supply chain partners

 

Qualifications

  • Resourceful attitude with self-starter mindset and sense of urgency in executing open issues
  • Negotiation skills enabling an ability to advocate for company interests while building key relationships
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively.
  • Analytical and financial acumen, leveraging data to guide cost-effective decisions.
  • Preference for 5+ years in the automation machine/equipment building industry or a related field.
  • Preference for 3+ years of management experience in supply chain, procurement, or operations.
  • Familiarity with machine tool and welding applications.

 

Salary: $90,000-$115,000
