Axle is seeking a Scientist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) located in Bethesda, MD.

Overall Position Summary and Objectives
Under this task order, the contractor will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Mental Health. The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through performance of support services.
Deliverables:
- Work products and documents related to creating a dedicated “Data Science and Sharing Team for Neuroimaging”; implement a shared repository for researchers to store, organize and access neuroimaging and phenotypic data collected at NIMH. - Daily
- Work products and documents related to conducting educational courses on data science and data sharing techniques; provide direct support to NIMH researchers employing best practices, data science techniques - Daily
- Work products and documents related to conducting a bibliometric analysis of peer reviewed literature to determine the current state of data sharing practices within the NIMH - Daily
- Work products and documents related to combining this analysis with information collected directly from NIMH researchers to produce a yearly report for the NIMH IRP leadership on the state of data sharing within the IRP. - Daily
Work Details:
- Coordinate training of users in applying data and analysis methods for their research studies. - 1
- Provide scientific and technical expertise to all visiting fellows, post-docs, and technicians. - 2
- Prepare teaching sets utilizing slides and other audiovisual materials to promote teaching of state-of-the-art scientific practices. - 3
- Provides programming and troubleshooting support to the Federal Government in the dissemination of research data.
- Collaborate with staff to create a dedicated Data Science and Sharing Team for Neuroimaging: within the Neuroimaging Core FMRIF Performs computations on research data analysis.
- Implement a shared repository for researchers to store, organize and access neuroimaging and phenotypic data collected at NIMH Works with staff on scientific programming and experimental design.
- Conduct educational courses on data science and data sharing techniques Supports the planning and execution of research experiments in the context of the laboratory's overall research program.
- Collaborate with staff to create a dedicated Data Science and Sharing Team for Neuroimaging: within the Neuroimaging Core FMRIF Supports laboratory staff on research projects and techniques.
- Implement a shared repository for researchers to store, organize and access neuroimaging and phenotypic data collected at NIMH Maintains laboratory equipment and the training of others in their use.
- Conduct educational courses on data science and data sharing techniques.
- Assists in maintaining adequate space and facilities for ongoing and projected research studies.
- Provide direct support to NIMH researchers employing best practices, data science techniques.
- Evaluates, analyzes and interprets research data, communicates results and methods in reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
- Conduct a bibliometric analysis of peer reviewed literature to determine the current state of data sharing practices within the NIMH IRP Records observations and report results at weekly laboratory meetings.
- Provide direct support to NIMH researchers employing best practices, data science techniques
- Provides statistical support / analysis on research data.
- Conduct a bibliometric analysis of peer reviewed literature to determine the current state of data sharing practices within the NIMH IRP Coordinates with junior staff to modify research protocols.
- Combine this analysis with information collected directly from NIMH researchers to produce a yearly report for the NIMH IRP leadership on the state of data sharing within IRP Presents research at national scientific meetings and symposia.
- Collaborate with the Machine Learning Core to develop novel methods and biomarkers for disease and cognitive states.
- Provides interpretation of results, guidance, and scientific support to the management team.
- Search existing literature for new and/or relevant techniques.
- Organize and conduct discussions with IC leadership concerning program direction and priorities Mentors junior level scientists.
- Provides research / service goals in the context of the laboratory's overall mission.
- Combine this analysis with information collected directly from NIMH researchers to produce a yearly report for the NIMH IRP leadership on the state of data sharing within IRP.
- Evaluates new types of experimental approaches to protocols based on knowledge of scientific literature, available facilities and research needs.
- Collaborate with the Machine Learning Core to develop novel methods and biomarkers for disease and cognitive states.

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
Salary Range
$85,000 - $101,000 USD
