Axle is seeking a Senior Advisor to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) located in Rockville, MD.

Overall Position Summary and Objectives
Contractor will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).

Provide consultation to the Division of Data Science and Technology (DST) Acting Director and NIMH staff. - 1
Attend and coordinate meetings with Wellcome Trust and the Alliance of Mental Health Research Funders (AMHRF). - 2
Review requests by NIMH awardees to grant Common Data Element (CDE) Program modifications or exemption requests. - 3
Serve as the liaison for The Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scales (RCADS) contract. - 4
Evaluates Data Management and Sharing Plans (DMS) plans. - 5
Provides executive experience needed to conduct needs assessments and develop recommendations for improvements of current operations.
Serve as Schizophrenia Subject Matter providing technical assistance, consultation, and preparing summaries for Congressional Justification reports.
Mentor mid-career NIH Program Officers.
Attend scientific meetings.
Collaborates with other professionals to develop recommendations for current and future initiatives.
Work with relevant stakeholders to provide ongoing support, guidance, and direction to DST leadership.
Leverage proven methodologies to formulate recommendations for short-term and long-term DST initiatives.
Support DST staff in monitoring the Division’s initiatives, reviewing requests for modifications or exemptions, and ensuring that the program aligns with relevant policies and objectives.
Advises management and staff on formulation of new strategies and sensitive or complicated issues.
Advise DST leadership on strategic priorities and provide direction and ongoing support to assist with DST planning initiatives.
Work with DST staff and leadership to build and guide the execution of individual DST project plans for prioritized initiatives and track the status of initiatives.
Works with staff to develop and implement new and proactive programs geared to specific audiences.
Determine solutions to overcome barriers, fill needs, respond to scientific opportunities, and develop collaborative solutions.
Conducts research and analysis to proactively address and respond to inquiries on various policies and issues.
Lead and/or attend and participate in working groups, meetings, and conferences.
Gathers relevant data to identify trends and propose recommendations based on analysis.
Coordinates and advances professional development and research done by others in areas where other mechanisms may not be optimal due to time constraints or other issues.
Provide facilitation and training for DST staff based on organizational needs.

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
Salary Range
$92,000 - $109,000 USD
