Axle is currently hiring for a Genomics Support Scientist to support our team at the Office of Chief Scientist - Integrated Research Facility (OCSIRF) within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in Frederick, MD.
Technical Requirements:
- Provide genomics support research services to support virology research, such as specialized technical skills focused on DNA/RNA extraction, purification, and analysis.
- Perform work with sequencing equipment and data analysis.
- Responsible for performing experimental tasks both within the biocontainment facility and in BSL-2 research laboratories.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of specimens, reagents, and supplies, and will also be responsible for laboratory inventory management, submitting purchase requests, managing laboratory resources and maintaining appropriate laboratory research documentation (notebooks).
- Execute genomics and sequencing research as directed
- Perform work on operating sequencing equipment including Illumina and Oxford Nanopore platforms
- Perform work on genomics data analysis; bioinformatics
- Maintain proper research documentation and data management
- Maintain laboratory reagent and material inventories
- Submit purchase requests
- Assist with manuscript and report writing as requested
Specific Qualifications / Experience:
- Minimum of a full 4-year course of study from an accredited college or university leading to a B.S. or higher degree that includes specialized training and research in molecular biology, virology or genomics
- Previous laboratory research experience (>3 years preferred)
- Genomics research experience preferred
- Previous recent BSL-3 or BSL-4 experience preferred.
