Axle is seeking a Scientist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) located in Bethesda, MD.

The position will provide scientific laboratory support for ongoing research studies within the laboratory's overall research program. The position will support the execution of established experimental procedures, collection and analysis of research data, maintenance of research records, and communication of experimental results. 

Responsibilities

-Supports the planning and execution of research experiments in the context of the laboratory's overall research program. 

- Conduct experiments using established laboratory protocols and procedures, including multi-electrode recording methods. 

- Perform electrophysiological recordings in support of ongoing research studies. 

- Perform both slice recordings and in vivo whole animal recordings.

- Perform electrical recordings in response to optogenetic induced light simulation.

- Support ongoing research studies involving sensory coding and neural plasticity in the mammalian olfactory bulb.

-Supports laboratory staff on research projects and techniques.

- Provide technical support to laboratory staff in the use of multi-electrode recording methods and related experimental techniques.

-Maintains laboratory equipment and the training of others in their use.

- Maintain and update laboratory notebooks and databases. 

- Manage scientific equipment and resources (e.g. reagents, stocks of frozen sells, animal samples) including acquisition, documentation and storage. 

- Analyze data generated from ongoing multi-electrode recording studies using established analytical approaches.

- Prepare summaries, reports, presentations, and other documentation describing experimental methods and results.

-Provides interpretation of results, guidance, and scientific support to the management team.

Qualifications

- Master's degree in a related discipline and three years experience

- Software - MS Office / Skills - Data Presentation

 

Salary Range

$85,000 - $90,000 USD
