Your Impact
At this role you will contribute into the code development of various CEW products, tools, and utilities which support the products across various pillars. Directly support various Senior Software Engineers on project development following their lead in task and scope completion. Starting with simplistic features, implementations and functionalities before expanding into further ownership of more broad development challenges. Following the Test-Drive-Design (TDD) philosophy, work is not considered “Done” until it has been tested, and coverage posed against it to ensure adherence to quality standards necessary to satisfy customers.
What You’ll Do
Location: Onsite at our Scottsdale, AZ, or Seattle, WA: office 3-5 days a week, and on the road 5-10% of time

- Individual Contributor: The CEW team support various pillar programs, and the ensure Joining Forces to meet tight deadlines. In this role, the expectation will be capability of supporting small or remedial task to ensure Lead Engineers are undistracted and able to focus on more complex problems. Typically, work will be prior planned, low risk, and under an extended timeline. At times there will be period of Paired or Mob Programming/Engineering where more direct interaction shall occur with broader team to combat time critical complex problems.
- Continuous Integration, Continuous Design: Continue to instantiate ATS systems. Follow guidelines, created by the CEW team, on Configuration of PC units, integration of Programmable Power supplies, connecting Hardware to Debugging Hardware, manage and arrange physical components needed for running extensive acceptance testing, confirm no regression in behaviors, generating metrics related to coverage, performance and quality aspects.
- Git, Diagrams, and Documentation: Using Git as a tool in collaboration work will be part of the role, the team will mentor in use of the Revision Control tool and will teach in the basics. Drafting out ideas, system design and proposal for implementation will need to be supported by visual diagram/descriptive tools. Completion and creation of documentation used for work instructions, detailed technical directions, informative summaries or empirical metrics presentation to management.
- Project Autonomy: This role will report to all Senior Engineers on the Team at various period across a year period. These will be to get broad exposure to all projects, to their similarities and differences. As the team intention is to have broad re-usability in anything within our ownership, it will be critical to become reliant to make the Win Right choices and Expect Candor from team members towards continuous personal improvement.
- Prototyping Lead: This role may support early exploration of features, peripheral, devices or technologies. Typically, these explorations shall be brief and controlled similar to using Evaluation Kits, Open Libraries, or SDK stacks to form an initial understanding of complex topics. It will be an expectation to Aim Far and Own it to return concise information as the team Boldly Go’s towards the next generation of products.
What You Bring
- Education :
- Undergraduate/Master BS, Military Equivalency, or Professional Certifications
- Experience:
- 3 years of Engineering Experience
- 3-5+ years of Professional Software Development
- Python, C#, C++, Rust, C (etc.)
- Embedded Development: Microcontrollers (MCU) preferred, or Microprocessor (MPU)
- ROS 2, Linux Daemon Development,
- Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
- Datasheet, Component Selection, Schematic, Gerber/Layout knowledge
- Mechanical Design Considerations
- Technical Maturities:
- Git Experience: Version Control, Gitflow
- Software or Firmware Development (i.e.) Scripting, Functional, Hardware Integration
- Data Structures, Development Environments (VS Code, IDEs, Etc.)
- Linkers, Make Files, Command Line, Bash | Powershell | Cygwin
- Engineering Tool Operation (i.e.) Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Digital Multimeters
- Cross Functional:
- General Public Speaking Capabilities, Presentation preparation skills, Small Technical Group discussions around Design Decisions, and Documented Workflows.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 120,750 in the lowest geographic market and USD 193,200 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors. This role is based out of our Scottsdale or Seattle and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation.
