Your Impact
As a Platform Engineer at Axon, you’ll support our core infrastructure and internal tooling, blending hands-on system administration with deep ownership of our Atlassian ecosystem. You’ll manage and evolve Jira across three tenant instances while ensuring the reliability and scalability of our server environments. This is a hybrid role that offers a unique opportunity to grow into DevOps and automation initiatives as we continue to scale.
What You’ll Do
Location: This role does require you to be based within commutable distance to one of our main R&D US Based Hubs (Scottsdale, AZ OR Boston, MA, OR Seattle, WA, OR Atlanta, GA or San Francisco); occasional onsite as needed
Reports to: Sr. Manager, Global Infrastructure

- Administer and support Axon's server infrastructure, including physical and virtual machines (VMware), storage systems, backup solutions, and core services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
- Serve as the primary administrator for Jira across three tenant environments — managing users, permissions, workflows, custom fields, automation, and third-party integrations.
- Support adjacent platforms such as Confluence, Jira Service Management, and Atlassian Access.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Business Operations teams to build and refine tools and processes within Jira and other internal systems.
- Drive automation of routine system and platform administration tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting tools.
- Monitor system performance and application health, ensuring high availability and responsiveness.
- Participate in infrastructure planning, patching, and upgrades — both in on-prem and cloud environments.
- Document configurations, standards, and processes to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing across teams.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Platform teams on future-facing initiatives such as CI/CD tooling, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps-aligned workflows.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support of critical systems and platforms.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years in system administration or infrastructure engineering roles, with experience supporting Windows and/or Linux environments.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience administering Jira in a professional environment — ideally across complex or multi-tenant instances.
- Strong understanding of Atlassian platform administration, including permission schemes, workflow design, user management, and automation rules.
- Experience with Confluence, Jira Service Management, Atlassian Access, or related tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and an interest in infrastructure automation.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented mindset.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience with or interest in DevOps concepts and tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 105,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 168,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
