Imagine the year 2030. Advanced technology has automated routine tasks to put Police Officers back in the community, dramatically improving the quality and safety of our lives. Artificial Intelligence connects the dots and surfaces insights to help prevent crime and keep officers and citizens informed and protected.

Today, public safety officers spend up to 40% of their time on the job filling out paperwork. Not only is this tedious for officers, but the never-ending pile of paperwork reduces the amount of time they can spend out in the field, protecting their communities. That's why we're building Axon Records — a cloud-native web platform that cuts down on paperwork so that officers can spend more time prioritizing the safety of their communities.

As a Sr. Fullstack Engineer on the IRS Vietnam team, you will own features across the entire stack — from React-based UI to GraphQL APIs and Go microservices — and contribute directly to expanding Axon Records to international law enforcement agencies in the US, Australia, and the UK. You will help shape how the platform handles complex, country-specific reporting requirements at scale.

This is a high-impact role with opportunities for technical leadership and cross-team influence.

What You’ll Do

Work Location: This role is based out of our Ho Chi Minh City office and follows a hybrid schedule: onsite Tuesday through Friday and remote on Mondays, unless an approved accommodation applies. We place a high value on in-person collaboration and building a strong in-office culture.

  • You are a strong fullstack engineer comfortable owning features from the UI layer through to backend services and infrastructure
  • You have a product mindset — you care about the end-user experience, not just the code
  • You are self-directed and able to lead feature delivery across teams with minimal guidance
  • You are a great communicator. You write design documents, participate in architecture discussions, and document best practices to raise the bar for the team
  • You thrive in a distributed, remote-first environment and collaborate effectively across time zones

What You Bring

  • International NIBRS (US/CA/AU/UK) — Build and generalize OOTB spec generation pipelines to support crime reporting standards for US, CA, AU and UK agencies
  • Form Builder — Extend the form validation engine to support country/state-specific rules, enabling international agency onboarding
  • Localization & i18n — Localize Activity Logs, Notifications, and Workflows for international deployments
  • Schema Store (Schemastorus) — Contribute to the schema registry that powers form validation and spec management across the platform
  • API Gateway (Hermes) — Build and maintain the GraphQL API layer connecting React frontends to Go microservices via gRPC

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping production web applications across the full stack
  • Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript on the frontend
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: Node.js or Go
  • Experience with GraphQL (Apollo Client and/or Apollo Server)
  • Experience with gRPC and microservices architecture
  • Experience scaling systems with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and facilitating cross-team collaboration
  • Experience with observability tools such as DataDog, Splunk, or Sentry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with internationalization (i18n) or building multi-locale, multi-tenant SaaS platforms
  • Experience with Protocol Buffers and service-to-service communication patterns
  • Experience designing for high availability, reliability, security, and performance
  • Familiarity with TypeORM, MySQL, or similar ORM/database tooling
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm)
  • Influences peers, advises senior leaders, coaches and mentors junior team members
