AXON

AXON is a global healthcare communications agency that ignites change in healthcare. Through the power of life-changing communications, we contribute to medical advances that improve lives. At the core of every scientific innovation and advancement, there is a simple and compelling story to be told. We know how to tell that story, how to use the right tools to reach the right audiences at the right time, to provoke meaningful change.

We specialise in advising clients on medical affairs, clinical studies, real-world evidence, marketing, advocacy, and communications, all underpinned by insights and creative strategy.

AXON has an international reach, with offices in Copenhagen, London, New York, and Toronto, and a worldwide affiliate network. Established in 2002, we have a deep heritage and expertise in healthcare strategy and communication, and we continue to learn and grow in the fast-changing healthcare sphere. AXON is proudly an AVENIR GLOBAL company.

Role

Creative Marketing at AXON is all about doing the right thing. We believe that’s about honest consultation with clients, so we act in their interests but not always according to their brief. Insightful consideration to unlock more value. And pushing creativity upstream to give it more clout. All this gives us confidence in what we deliver and builds confidence in us.

Creative Marketing is the newest practice in AXON, so we have the rare opportunity to build and shape the practice just the way we want to. We’re looking for a like-minded Senior Designer/Video who is set up for the challenge and genuinely interested in the experience of building our practice and with the support of their team, driving their client accounts and projects. Joining the Creative Marketing team at AXON will give team members at all levels opportunities they may not experience in a mainstream healthcare marketing agency – including opportunities to work with practices outside of creative marketing, working on Global/European accounts and internal responsibilities that help shape the direction of our practice. If you’re an ambitious Senior Designer/Video looking for a new opportunity to push yourself and your career to that next step, we would love to hear from you.

As a Senior Designer/Video at AXON, you will work closely with the Senior Art Director and wider creative team to elevate every project from concept to final delivery across design, video and motion.

You will bring senior-level creative craft, strong visual judgement, and hands-on video editing and development capability, helping shape compelling work across campaigns, digital channels, events, pitches, social content and client communications.

This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment and takes pride in delivering beautifully crafted, strategically considered work across static, digital, film and animated formats. The successful candidate will be passionate about creative excellence, eager to push ideas further, and enthusiastic about embracing new technologies and creative approaches.

Candidates must demonstrate strong conceptual thinking, exceptional attention to detail, advanced design and video craft skills, and the ability to confidently communicate and present creative ideas to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Accountability:

  • Lead and support the design and development of creative projects across branding, campaigns, marketing materials, digital assets, presentations, video content, social-first assets, pitch films and event communications
  • Translate briefs into compelling ideas across static, digital, video and motion formats
  • Develop video concepts, moodboards, storyboards, treatments, animatics and edit plans
  • Edit video content to a senior standard, including sequencing footage, shaping narrative and pace, creating titles and supers, refining transitions, adding captions/subtitles and preparing final exports
  • Create or guide motion graphics and animated assets including kinetic typography, explainer sequences, social cut-downs and branded motion assets
  • Ensure the highest standards of craftsmanship across typography, layout, editing, animation, sound and final output quality
  • Present creative concepts to internal teams and clients, clearly articulating creative rationale and incorporating feedback effectively
  • Maintain professional standards of file management, workflow organisation and version control
  • Act as a guardian of client brands, ensuring consistency across all visual communications and outputs

Client Services:

  • Build strong collaborative relationships with creative, client services, scientific and medical teams across the business
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure creative work aligns with strategic objectives and client expectations
  • Participate in internal briefings, workshops and creative discussions with confidence and enthusiasm
  • Support and coordinate with external vendors, freelancers, editors, animators and production partners where required
  • Demonstrate a proactive and solutions-focused approach to feedback, challenges and evolving project requirements

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously across design, video editing, motion graphics and production workflows
  • Deliver projects to agreed timelines, budgets and technical specifications
  • Ensure all work progresses through the correct internal review and approval processes, including medical, scientific, brand and compliance checks
  • Plan edit, animation and review timelines realistically, allowing for revisions and regulatory review stages
  • Accurately complete time recording and expenses in Maconomy using appropriate job codes
  • Prepare and quality check all final deliverables for accuracy, accessibility, formatting, file size, aspect ratio and export specifications

People Management & Team:

  • Mentor and support junior designers, helping develop confidence in design craft, video-first thinking and presentation skills
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive and creatively ambitious team culture
  • Maintain curiosity for emerging creative trends, technologies and best practices across design, motion and video
  • Contribute positively to the growth and development of the Creative Marketing team
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for creative innovation, continuous improvement and award-worthy work

Essential Skills:

  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Strong hands-on capability in Premiere Pro and working knowledge of After Effects
  • Strong experience across design, video editing, motion graphics and digital content creation
  • Excellent typography, layout, storytelling and visual communication skills
  • Strong understanding of video production workflows, aspect ratios, codecs, captions, accessibility and export specifications
  • Experience creating motion graphics, social-first content and animated assets
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrable portfolio showcasing high-quality design and video work; showreel advantageous
  • Illustration, animation, 3D, sound editing or colour correction skills advantageous
  • Previous healthcare or pharmaceutical agency experience beneficial but not essential

At AXON, we actively encourage the team to be involved in activities outside of their day-to-day work. Whether that is being involved in our social, Diversity & Inclusion, or CSR electives, attending networking events, or running training sessions on topics in which they have a personal interest. We have a keen focus on training and development and, as a rough guide, suggest employees aim to complete 37.5 hours of learning a year through online learning, classroom training, or attending external events; that’s 1 week a year dedicated to your development.

AI Culture & Expectations

At AXON, we harness AI not to replace what makes us exceptional, but to elevate it. AI expands our reach, sharpens our insights, and accelerates discovery; but it is our people – curious, responsible, authentic, forward-looking and transparent – who turn that potential into meaningful impact.

We are looking for candidates who are curious, adaptable and enthusiastic about embracing AI and emerging technologies as part of their everyday working practices.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a growth mindset around AI and emerging technologies, shown through an openness to learning new tools, experimenting with innovative ways of working, and using AI responsibly and transparently.

Whether your background is technical or non-technical, we value individuals who demonstrate digital confidence and a willingness to evolve alongside rapidly changing technologies.
