
Senior Account Director (Hybrid)

As a Senior Account Director, you will play a pivotal leadership role, acting as a trusted advisor to clients while mentoring and developing the next generation of agency talent.
AXON is seeking an experienced Senior Account Director who will lead complex healthcare communications programs from strategy through execution. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, provide senior-level counsel to clients, and ensure programs are delivered with excellence, creativity, and measurable business impact. Your leadership will help strengthen client relationships, support agency growth, and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation across the business.
As the Senior Account Director you will:
- Take a leading role in driving new business initiatives and identifying growth opportunities, with clear accountability for contributing to AXON’s revenue growth.
- Lead strategic client programs that deliver measurable business outcomes and exceptional client experiences.
- Provide senior-level strategic counsel across healthcare communications initiatives, ensuring programs align with client objectives and industry best practices.
- Inspire, mentor, and develop team members while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Partner closely with multidisciplinary teams across AXON and the AVENIR GLOBAL network to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities
- Lead strategic healthcare communications programs from planning through execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing strategic counsel, leading senior-level discussions, and identifying opportunities for account growth.
- Foster strong collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, innovative, and impactful client solutions.
- Oversee financial and operational management of accounts, including budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation, and workflow optimization.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members while promoting an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture.
- Maintain a strong understanding of healthcare trends, client industries, and competitive landscapes to provide informed strategic counsel.
- Collaborate with teams across AVENIR GLOBAL to maximize project success and innovation.
Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Foundational knowledge of clinical research, trial conduct, and operational delivery.
- Proven experience developing compelling proposals, pitches and a strong passion for building new client relationships while identifying growth opportunities.
- Relevant qualifications in communications, marketing, life sciences, business, or a related field. Advanced degree considered an asset.
- 8–10+ years of experience in healthcare communications, public relations, medical communications, or agency client services.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex client accounts and integrated communications programs.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of delivering impactful client solutions.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Strong financial and operational management capabilities, including budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Proven people leadership experience with the ability to mentor, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments and managing multiple priorities effectively.
- A collaborative mindset and passion for advancing healthcare communications.
- Capability to work 3 days a week in-office.
- Ability to travel as required.

Expected Compensation
The expected salary for this role is $92,000.00 - $115,000.00 CAD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
