As a Software Engineer at Axon, you’ll help build technology that supports mission-critical products used by customers around the world.

We are hiring engineers across a range of experience levels. Depending on your background, you may be growing your skills alongside experienced engineers, independently owning features and services, or leading technical design and architecture for complex systems.

You’ll work in a collaborative, AI-first engineering environment where modern development tools, automation, and AI-assisted workflows are part of how we build software. You’ll partner with engineers, product managers, designers, and other teams to solve meaningful customer problems while building reliable, scalable technology.

Whether you are early in your career or an experienced engineer, we are looking for people who are curious, take ownership, care about quality, and want to continue growing.

What You’ll Do

Depending on your experience and the team you join, you may:

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain production software and services
  • Own features and technical projects from requirements through production
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture design
  • Build highly available, scalable, and performant systems for mission-critical products
  • Work with modern cloud, distributed systems, data, and open-source technologies
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to build solutions that solve real customer problems
  • Use AI-assisted development tools, automation, and intelligent workflows to improve engineering productivity and software quality
  • Validate and critically evaluate AI-generated code and technical recommendations
  • Improve testing, observability, reliability, and operational efficiency
  • Contribute to engineering processes and technical best practices
  • Learn from experienced engineers and share your knowledge with others
  • At more senior levels, provide technical leadership, influence architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and help raise the technical bar across teams

What You Bring

We know great engineers come from many different backgrounds. Relevant experience may come from professional roles, internships, academic work, military experience, open-source contributions, boot camps, or other hands-on software development.

We’re interested in candidates who bring some combination of:

  • A foundation in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience programming in languages such as Java, Go, Scala, C#, Python, C++, or similar
  • Experience or interest in building backend services, APIs, cloud applications, distributed systems, or other production software
  • Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL data stores
  • An understanding of software engineering fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, testing, debugging, and system design appropriate to your experience level
  • Curiosity about modern engineering tools, including AI-assisted development, code generation, and automation
  • A commitment to writing reliable, maintainable, and high-quality software
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • A desire to understand customer problems and build technology that makes a meaningful impact

For more experienced engineers, we may also look for:

  • Experience designing and delivering highly available, scalable cloud-based systems
  • Ownership of production services and complex technical projects
  • Strong system design and architecture experience
  • Experience making and communicating engineering tradeoffs
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction
  • Experience improving developer workflows through automation or AI-assisted engineering practices
