Accounting Team Lead

As an Accounting Team Lead you will oversee the operations of the accounts payable team. You will ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments while maintaining strong internal controls and supporting process improvements. This role requires strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead and supervise the Accounts Payable team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments.
- Report accurate financial results and accounting records.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and meet deadlines.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet and P&L OPEX analysis.
- Review and approve journal entries and invoice GL coding to ensure expenses are coded to the correct department and expense type.
- Review and approve payment runs, ensuring compliance with company policies and proper authorization.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company policies and audit requirements.
- Provide support during audits by preparing required documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Assist the manager with various ad-hoc tasks and special projects as needed.
What you’ll need to be successful:
Must haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of experience in accounts payable, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, accounting principles, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.---
Nice to Have:
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with international payments and tax regulations (e.g., VAT, GST).
