As our Tax Manager, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing all tax compliance activities while contributing to strategic tax planning initiatives. If you're a seasoned expert in Canadian, US and international corporate tax and adept at managing relationships with tax advisors and accounting professionals across multiple jurisdictions, this is the opportunity for you!
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead and manage the tax team, provide guidance, mentorship, performance oversight, and ensure high-quality execution of all tax-related activities.
- Oversee the preparation of corporate tax returns, transfer pricing and other tax compliance returns, for the Canadian group and its foreign entities (US).
- Oversee the preparation and compliance of sales tax returns for the Group’s entities on the Canadian, US and foreign territories.
- Inform Management of upcoming tax and/or compliance changes that could impact the Group’s activities. Make recommendations and assist the various departments in implementing new procedures and processes to align with these tax and/or compliance changes.
- Ensure overall tax compliance across all group entities globally.
- Manage relationships with external accounting firms and tax advisors in Canada, US, and abroad.
- Review tax provisions for the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
- Collaborate with the treasury, accounting, and legal teams to ensure integrated tax management.
- Represent the company during tax audits and manage communications with tax authorities.
What you’ll need to be successful:
Must Haves:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in corporate taxation. Experience in indirect tax will be prioritized.
- A minimum of 2 years in people leadership.
- Required professional designation: CPA.
- Strong understanding of international tax structures and intercompany transactions.
- Up-to-date knowledge of BEPS, Pillar 1 & 2, and OECD guidelines
- Previous success managing tax audits or disputes
- Experience in industry or within a large accounting or tax firm (Big 4 or equivalent)
- Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously in a dynamic technology-driven environment
- Strong analytical skills, autonomy, rigor, and collaborative leadership
