Senior Accountant, Short-Term

Aypa is looking for a Senior Accountant to work on a temporary, 6-month basis, with the possibility for conversion at the end of the term. This role will be responsible for the accounting and reporting of significant accounting transactions, special projects, and internal reporting.   

The ideal candidate will be familiar with technical accounting subjects, such as revenue recognition, leases, debt and equity instruments, property plant & equipment and hedge accounting. They will also have a strong understanding of GAAP, accounting systems, processes and best practices. We are looking for a candidate who is detail oriented, has strong organization and communication skills, and is very self-motivated and efficient.
 
Responsibilities:   

  • Monitor business activities, ensure timely identification of accounting and financial reporting matters and assist in preparing high quality accounting memorandums for senior management and auditors;
  • Assist in the preparation and review of corporate accounting policies and procedures;
  • Prepare analyses of data and support for technical matters with agility and present findings and challenges timely for evaluation;
  • Work cross-functionally with other groups to foresee potential accounting issues and recommend practical solutions associated with contemplated business transactions;
  • Participates in both formal and informal reviews with business transactions to ensure financial statement disclosures are complete and accurate;
  • Track and report on various accounting-related matters within the company’s credit agreements, including principal and interest payments, liquidity requirements and other matters;
  • Perform general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and other ad hoc tasks related to period-end close;
  • Execute monthly accounting close activities and complete related deliverables;
  • Conduct actual vs. actual flux analysis with an eye for detail;
  • Assist with various treasury related activities;
  • Assist with special projects as needed. 

Key Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience;
  • CPA required, Big 4 public accounting experience desired;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Strong understanding of GAAP as well as ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel;
  • Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to develop strong partnerships and influence people;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 

Compensation and Location: 

Salary:A base salary commensurate with experience; 
Bonus:An annual bonus will be awarded based on individual performance and the overall success of the business;

Location: Remote (USA). The ability to work in the United States is a requirement;   
Travel: Limited travel, may need to travel to Canada.
