Position Summary
Azurity Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Vice President, Head of Global Medical Excellence to lead and scale operational excellence across the Medical organization. This role will serve as a strategic and operational partner to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Medical leadership team, and is responsible for ensuring that global medical capabilities, processes and execution models are efficient, compliant, scalable, and aligned with Azurity’s growth strategy.
Based in Woburn or Raleigh (US), Dublin (Ireland) or Zug (Switzerland), this leader will drive medical excellence, systems implementations and improvements, process compliance, operational rigor, performance management, and continuous improvement across the Medical function, while enabling high-impact execution to support product launches, lifecycle management, evidence generation, medical corporate development review, and scientific engagement globally.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Medical Excellence & Strategy
• Establish and lead a global Medical Excellence function, defining operating and compliance standards
• Partner with the CMO and the Strategic Operations Lead to define and translate medical strategy into operational plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
• Drive consistency and scalability across global medical processes, tools, and ways of working.
Process Optimization
• Design, implement, and optimize end-to-end Medical Excellence processes, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, vendor management, and performance tracking.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and compliance across the Medical function.
• Implement best practices for operational metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to support data-driven decision-making.
Compliance & Risk Management
• Partner with the Strategic Operations Lead to oversee medical governance frameworks, including review committees
- Overseas and implementsSOPs, policies, and inspection readiness together with Drug Safety.
• Ensure alignment with global regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Partner with Legal, Compliance, Quality, and Drug Safety to proactively identify and mitigate operational and compliance risks.
Planning, Budgeting & Resource Management
• Partner with the Strategic Operations Lead to lead global medical annual planning, forecasting, and budget management.
• Optimize headcount planning, vendor strategy, and external spend to maximize impact and efficiency.
• Provide transparency and insights into medical investments and their impact.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Enable strong cross-functional execution for launch readiness, lifecycle initiatives, and global programs.
• Support business development, due diligence, and integration activities from a medical operations perspective.
• Champion adoption and optimization of medical systems and tools (e.g., CRM, medical information platforms, analytics, planning tools).
• Partner with IT to enhance digital enablement, data quality, and automation within Medical.
Leadership & Talent Development
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global Medical Excellence team.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and patient focus.
• Coach and influence senior medical leaders to adopt scalable, disciplined operational practices.
Qualifications:
Education
• Advanced degree required: MD, PharmD, PhD, MBA, or equivalent combination of scientific and business education.
Experience
• 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech organizations, with significant leadership experience in Global Medical Affairs.
• Proven track record of building and leading global operational excellence functions.
• Experience supporting product launches, portfolio expansion, and complex global medical organizations.
• Strong understanding of medical governance, compliance, and regulatory environments.

• Strategic and execution-focused leader with strong operational acumen.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at the executive level.
• Highly analytical with experience leveraging data, KPIs, and dashboards to drive decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in matrixed, fast-growing environments.
