The VP Digital Enablement & Innovation will be responsible in communicating the impact of Azurity’s digital transformation roadmap execution at all levels across the organization. S/He will lead a cross-functional team comprised of technology specialists that will also include the leadership of the Enterprise Information Management team and the Digital & Technology Transformation organization.  This senior leader will drive and lead the digitalization and integration of data, digital, and workflow technologies that will transform Azurity and leverage the power of integration to eliminate disconnected technologies and siloed solutions used throughout the organization.  S/he will also support driving prioritization, cross functional alignment, and issue resolution with the help from Azurity’s executive management team.

Key Accountabilities:

Leading a global team of developers, engineers, and strategy planners who lead and participate in the development of and execution for Azurity’s digital transformation.  This will include the operations, development of workflow capabilities, and incorporation of AI and associated technologies that will improve Azurity’s customer delivery and increase internal integration, quality, and efficiency. 

  • Supporting the establishment of a culture of collaboration and integration, open communication, accountability, and timely decision making that enhances business objectives and supports innovation
  • Providing significant experience and expertise in emerging technologies, while advising on the selection and use of same
  • Development of a Digitalization roadmap aligned to Azurity’s strategic plan and vision working in conjunction with ELT, ePMO, and Sr BU leaders throughout the corporation
  • Assuring Information Systems/Information Technology strategies align with overall organizational mission and vision
  • Coordinating internal transformation strategy efforts, working alongside the CDIO and cross functional Business Leaders and Liaisons including ePMO
  • Drive efficiency and streamline operations, ensuring integration of internal processes and systems across products, regions, and locations wherever feasible
  • Driving strategic research initiatives and developing IT partnerships (i.e., establishing strategic service provider partnerships)
  • Overseeing management of budgets, expenses, and resources (CAPEX and OPEX) for the Digital & Technology organization; making strategic financial decisions and recommendations regarding investment in both capital and resources
  • Consulting on the adequate level of technology services and performance supporting current business needs and providing efficient IT services and support to all users
  • Consulting on data and technology process consolidation across the enterprise and optimizes the associated costs

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree plus 12+ years of experience, or military experience in related fields or activities, 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • A minimum of 20 years’ work experience, with at least 10 years in a large global organization as well as >7 years’ management experience
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience leveraging modern enabling technologies, information, data, and analytics

Technical Expertise:

  • Experience delivering enterprise-scale data services and integration, as well as incorporation of usable AI and related hyperautomation capabilities
  • Facilitates and coaches Global Digital & Technology personnel, Process Owners, Functional Owners, and Project Managers as needed
  • Knowledgeable in product ownership, project delivery and life sciences business operations
  • Drives accountability and guides global team to embrace and adopt prescribed corporate systems and standard solutions and the refinement and/or replacement of those systems that might be sub-standard or not follow agreed frameworks or patterns
  • Assists with publishing guidance and documentation to promote adoption
  • Proposes solutions based on research and synthesis; creates and enforces general operational principles that capture the vision and critical concerns of Executive Leadership
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of Quality Management including ISO 9001:2008 requirements
  • Instructs others on how to thoroughly analyze data and present findings and recommendations in a way that is easy and simple for key stakeholders to make decisions, links analysis to overall business objectives and strategies
  • Can follow processes without assistance, recognize variations to the process and works to resolve independently
  • Adapts to limitations or exceptions to processes and adjusts accordingly
  • Skillfully interacts with executive leadership demonstrating expertise and insight and manage expectations as well as communicating strategies and tactics to achieve objectives

Work and Delivery Experience:

  • Thorough understanding of the features and functions of clinical research technologies commonly used throughout the industry, and experience of putting these into practice (eDC, CTMS, CDMS, IVRS, eTMF, SAS, Portals, data lakes, analytics, reporting, and scientific analysis)
  • Thorough understanding of industry standards (GaMP, GxP, SDLC, ITIL, CDISC, HL7, FHIR, SDTM, etc.)
  • Significant experience of departmental management, including fiscal and personnel responsibility of a large group, international senior management experience preferred
  • Expert at formulating successful strategic plans, working with executive management
  • Significant experience of identifying, building, and supporting technology of business value within the pharmaceutical industry related to clinical research, compliant to GCP and FDA regulations
  • Experienced professional providing trusted consulting skills to the business and external clients as a technologist
  • Significant experience of providing application development and support services within a large organization, at a management level
  • Experiences of pre-sales technology successes expected
  • Proven track record of successfully working on large scale and very complex IT Application projects
  • Significant experience of working with global teams across multiple time zones
  • Complement rather than duplicate the CDIO's strengths
  • Own AI and digital execution while the CDIO focuses on broader digital and technology strategy
  • Align AI and digital investments with enterprise technology architecture in direct support of core business mission
  • Proactively manage up with clear metrics, risks, and decisions

  • Ability to present in front of large audiences who are diverse in addition to small, more intimate meeting situations such as Board of Directors, ELT, Senior staff, etc.
  • Drives accountability and performance with direct reports and mentors’ mid-level and junior staff
  • High capacity to drive change in a fast-paced, fluid and ambiguous managerial environment.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback
  • Excellent reporting skills including detailed analysis and executive presentations
  • Experience in end user technologies, including collaboration, video, desktop, voice, MS product suite, SharePoint, etc.
  • Experience in a very technical organization with a proven background in the management leadership function
  • An influencer who will drive success even in the absence of full support and/or understanding from stakeholders
  • Will demonstrate value in advance of complete buy-in and occasionally without full data/information
  • The ability to identify gaps and opportunities and drive solutions in a creative way that doesn’t rely on exhaustive resources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Must have the skills and experience to communicate, motivate, and lead, well with technical and business professionals
  • A track record of shipping AI products at scale, not just strategizing
  • Experience hiring and developing senior AI/digital leaders
  • Ability to say no to low-value AI initiatives while maintaining relationships
  • Genuine intellectual curiosity about emerging AI capabilities
  • A network in the AI and digital community that attracts talent and partnerships and supports Life Sciences technological requirements
  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translating them into application and operational requirements
  • Experience with regulated industry AI deployment – understanding of real-world evidence, manufacturing experience, clinical data, and commercial pharma and payor data
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidance on AI/ML in healthcare & Life Sciences
  • Experience with patient data privacy (HIPAA) and compliance requirementsAbility to distill complex technical concepts into meaningful executive level reporting to enrich and enhance decision-making
  • Ability to think and plan strategically across complex IT and business functions
  • Understands project management methodologies/ tools and development of technology lifecycles
  • Strong interpersonal/relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills
