Position Summary

Azurity Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Vice President,Head of Medical – Cardiology, Endocrinology & Other Therapeutic Areas (CORE) to provide senior medical and scientific leadership across Azurity’s portfolio in global markets. This role is accountable for defining and executing integrated medical strategies that support scientific differentiation, clinical value, and lifecycle advancement across cardiology, endocrinology, and additional therapeutic areas within the portfolio.

Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, this executive will oversee a team of Medical Leads aligned to these therapeutic areas. The role will partner closely with Commercial Brand Executives and Franchise Portfolio Management to ensure medical strategy and input is embedded into brand planning, portfolio prioritization, and long-range value creation—while upholding the highest standards of scientific integrity, compliance, and patient centricity.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Strategy Leadership (Cardiology, Endocrinology & Other TAs) CORE
• Own and drive end-to-end medical strategy across cardiology, endocrinology, and other assigned therapeutic areas in global markets, ensuring alignment with Azurity’s enterprise medical vision and business objectives.
• Define portfolio-level medical strategic imperatives, including unmet need, disease burden, scientific differentiation, evidence requirements, and lifecycle opportunities.
• Ensure consistent medical positioning and strategic clarity across brands, indications, and treatment settings globally.

Leadership of Medical Leads
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Medical Leads supporting cardiology, endocrinology, and other therapeutic areas (CORE)
• Establish clear frameworks, standards, and expectations for brand-level medical strategy development, execution, and measurement.
• Ensure the Medical Strategy function is as highly collaborative, credible scientific expert and trusted strategic partner by Commercial Brand Executives and Franchise Portfolio leaders.

Integrated Brand & Lifecycle Planning
• Partner closely with Commercial Brand Executives to align CORE portfolio’s medical strategy with overall brand strategy, launch planning, and execution—while maintaining appropriate medical function’s compliance.
• Collaborate with Franchise Portfolio Management to inform portfolio prioritization, indication sequencing and timing, formulation strategies, and long-range lifecycle planning across global markets.
• Oversee medical contributions to integrated brand plans, launch readiness, post-launch optimization, and expansion strategies.

Evidence Generation & Scientific Insight
• Guide evidence generation strategies across supported therapeutic areas, including alignment with Clinical Development, investigator-initiated studies (IIS), real-world evidence (RWE), registries, and post-marketing research.
• Ensure medical strategies are grounded in robust clinical data, patient-reported outcomes, real-world insights, and evolving global standards of care.
• Leverage insights (including evolving treatment landscape and new market entrants) from MSLs, KOLs, advisory boards, and scientific congresses to continuously refine medical strategy.

Cross-Functional & Executive Partnership
• Serve as the senior medical strategy partner across Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Clinical Development, Safety, and Global Medical Operations.
• Provide medical leadership input into value, access, HTA, and reimbursement discussions for cardiology, endocrinology, and other portfolio products in global markets.
• Support business development, due diligence, and portfolio evaluation activities related to these therapeutic areas.

Governance & Scientific Integrity
• Ensure all medical strategies and activities comply with global medical governance standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical principles.
• Partner with Legal and Compliance to maintain appropriate collaboration and separation between medical and commercial activities.

Executive Influence & Representation
• Act as a trusted advisor to the Chief Medical Officer on portfolio strategy, scientific risk, and opportunity assessment.
• Represent Medical Strategy in senior leadership forums, governance committees, and cross-functional decision-making bodies.
• Ensure a clear, unified medical voice across cardiology, endocrinology, and other therapeutic areas globally.

Qualifications

Education
• Advanced degree required: MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent medical/scientific degree.

Experience
15+ years of experience in Medical Affairs strategy roles within pharmaceutical or biotech organizations.

- Expert understanding of life cycle management processes

- Demonstrated Medical Launch success within pharmaceutical and/or biotech organizations
• Significant experience in cardiology, endocrinology, metabolic disease, or related therapeutic areas.
• Demonstrated leadership of portfolio- or franchise-based medical strategy, including oversight of senior medical leaders (e.g., Medical Directors).
• Proven success partnering closely with Commercial Brand leadership and Portfolio Management in a compliant, matrixed environment.
• Experience supporting multiple launches, indications, or lifecycle expansions in global markets.

Skills & Competencies
• Strong scientific and clinical acumen across cardiometabolic and related therapeutic areas.
• Strategic portfolio-level thinking with the ability to translate science into long-term medical and business value.
• Proven people leader with experience developing Medical Affairs professionals.
• Excellent executive communication, influence, and stakeholder-management skills.
• High ethical standards, patient-centric orientation, and commitment to scientific excellence.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience across cardiovascular, diabetes, metabolic, or endocrine disorders.
• Experience working across US and international markets.
• Prior experience in organizations with franchise or portfolio operating models.
• Experience incorporating real-world evidence, outcomes research, or health economics into medical strategy.

Travel
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25–35%, as required.
