The Senior Medical Affairs Manager, Field Medical Excellence is an Ireland-based hybrid position within the Medical Affairs Department, reporting to the Director, Stakeholder Engagement & Field Medical Excellence. The Global Field Medical Excellence Senior Manager drives operational excellence across the global Field Medical organization by optimizing CRM, analytics, processes, digital tools, and training to enhance scientific engagement and organizational effectiveness. Leads the governance and optimization of medical insights process to ensure high-quality, actionable insights are consistently captured, analyzed, and translated into strategic recommendations that inform Medical Affairs priorities and cross-functional decision-making.
Working closely with global, regional, and cross-functional stakeholders, this role standardizes best practices, enables data-driven decision-making, and supports continuous innovation to maximize the impact of Field Medical.
Key Responsibilities
CRM Strategy, Metrics and Analytics
Serve as the Field Medical business lead for the Medical CRM, supporting global strategy, governance and system optimization. Partner with key stakeholders to improve usability, adoption and data quality, develop regular dashboards, monitor utilization, and support advanced analytics and AI-enabled reporting where appropriate.
KOL Mapping and Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the key point of contact for the KOL mapping platform, including access, training and optimal utilization. Work with Medical Franchise teams to align KOL mapping, tiering and engagement priorities with therapy area strategy and ensure this alignment can be reflected in the CRM.
Medical Insights
Support the global medical insights strategy, governance and standardization, including frameworks for consistent collection, categorization and reporting. Partner with stakeholders to improve insight quality and actionability, analyze trends, support dashboards and reporting, and help ensure insights are translated into strategic actions.
Field Medical Tools and Digital Enablement
- Manage the evaluation, implementation and optimization of digital tools supporting scientific engagement
- Partner with IT and Digital teams on new technologies including AI-enabled solutions, omnichannel engagement and digital collaboration platforms
- Gather user requirements and translate business needs into technology enhancements
- Monitor tool adoption and user experience and implement improvements where needed
Field Medical Processes and Operational Excellence
Provide input into global Field Medical SOPs, guidance documents and best practices. Drive process harmonization while allowing appropriate local flexibility, identify opportunities to simplify workflows, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and support new operational models and governance processes.
Training and Capability Development
- Partner with Medical Capabilities to identify operational capability gaps across field medical
- Develop and maintain global training materials related to CRM, field tools, operational processes and Medical Excellence standards
- Support onboarding programs for new field medical colleagues related to systems and operational processes
- Contribute to capability-building initiatives that improve operational excellence and digital literacy within field medical
Training and Capability Development
Partner with Medical Capabilities to identify operational capability gaps and develop and maintain global training materials. Support onboarding and contribute to broader capability-building initiatives focused on operational excellence and digital literacy.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Ensure external best practices and industry trends in field medical excellence are implemented across field medical excellence activities.
- Recommend and implement initiatives that improve scientific engagement and operational efficiency
- Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI and digital innovation

Governance and Compliance
Ensure system workflows, data flows and reporting maintain the separation between scientific exchange and commercial promotion. Support audit readiness and contribute to discussions with Compliance on system design questions.
Required Skills And Experience
Education
- Advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MSc or equivalent)
Experience
- 7+ years of medical experience, including significant field medical/MSL experience
- Prior experience in field medical excellence, MSL leadership, medical operations, or training and enablement strongly preferred
- Experience supporting global or regional medical organizations
- Experience working in medical insights, analytics, dashboards, or reporting
- Experience with CRM platforms (e.g. Veeva, Salesforce-based systems)
- Experience with KOL mapping or stakeholder intelligence platforms
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for excellence
- Strong knowledge of scientific exchange models, medical compliance frameworks (e.g. EFPIA, ABPI, PhRMA Code), MSL metrics and performance management
- Prior experience supporting product launches in specialty care settings
- Strong strategic and operational thinking skills, with the ability to manage effective networks
- Ability to work effectively under time pressure and independently
- Highly collaborative team player with experience working across cross-functional teams
- Excellent organization and decision-making skills; plans, priorities and executes multiple responsibilities and projects effectively
- Knowledge of the evolving medical landscape, regulatory and payer environment, public health and industry trends
- Proficiency in digital tools, including dashboard and visualization tools such as Power BI
Required Skills and Experience
Requires an advanced scientific degree and 7+ years of medical experience, including significant Field Medical/MSL experience. Prior experience in Field Medical Excellence, MSL leadership, medical operations or training and enablement is strongly preferred, alongside experience with global or regional organizations, insights, analytics, CRM and KOL mapping platforms.
Skills
Requires strong interpersonal, communication, strategic and operational skills, with knowledge of scientific exchange models, medical compliance frameworks, MSL metrics and performance management. The role also requires strong cross-functional collaboration, organization, decision-making, knowledge of the evolving healthcare environment, and proficiency in digital and visualization tools such as Power BI.
