Role Overview:

As the Associate Director, AI Product at Babel Street, you will drive the vision, strategy, and execution of AI-centric product offerings. This role bridges the gap between strategic product leadership and deep technical expertise in machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to ensure our AI products align with market demands, customer needs, and Babel Street’s broader product ecosystem.

What you will do:

1. Product Strategy & Roadmap

• Define, prioritize, and maintain the AI product roadmap in alignment with organizational objectives.

• Evaluate emerging AI/ML technologies to ensure continuous innovation and competitive differentiation.

• Conduct market research, user feedback sessions, and competitor analyses to refine product strategies.

2. AI Product Development

• Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to plan and deliver AI-driven features, ensuring they meet quality, performance, and scalability standards.

• Oversee model development, training, and validation processes in close collaboration with data scientists.

• Lead rapid prototyping efforts to explore new AI-based capabilities and verify viability before wider adoption.

3. Cross-Functional Leadership

• Manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders—such as Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success—to deliver AI products on time and within scope.

• Partner with the Product Marketing team to create go-to-market strategies, product positioning, and launch plans for AI-related products and enhancements.

• Liaise with senior leadership to report on progress, provide strategic recommendations, and secure buy-in for AI initiatives.

4. Customer & Market Focus

• Translate customer needs, feedback, and trends into actionable AI product requirements.

• Work directly with key clients and prospects to understand pain points, showcase product capabilities, and gather insights for iterative product improvements.

• Monitor and analyze metrics to validate AI product success and drive continuous optimization.

5. Team Development & Mentorship

• Hire, mentor, and manage a small team of AI-focused product managers and/or business analysts.

• Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and agile methodologies to deliver AI solutions swiftly and effectively.

• Identify skill gaps and facilitate professional development opportunities within the team.

 

What you will bring to Babel Street:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree in a quantitative field is a plus.

• AI/ML Expertise: Demonstrated track record of bringing AI and ML-based products to market. Hands-on understanding of machine learning, deep learning frameworks, natural language processing, and relevant tooling.

• Product Management Experience: 3 years of product management experience, with at least 2 years managing AI or data-driven products. Experience leading teams or managing direct reports is required.

• Technical Literacy: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and data scientists. Comfortable with code reviews, ML model evaluations, and understanding of model performance metrics.

• Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving abilities and data-driven approach. Skilled in using analytics tools to interpret user data, product performance, and market trends.

• Strategic Vision: Ability to balance short-term product deliverables with long-term strategic goals. Adept at creating compelling product roadmaps and communicating them to diverse stakeholders.

• Communication & Leadership: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Experience presenting to executive teams and building consensus across multiple functions.

Range for this position based on qualifications and experience
