Our Ways of Working

Our Fulfillment Center team works on-site to support our physical operations and plays a vital role in delivering the Babylist experience. Our partner teams are distributed remotely across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Whether in person or remote, we show up consistently, stay focused on our purpose, leverage AI to amplify our impact, and deliver results—together, from anywhere.

What the Role Is

As the Senior People Operations Generalist, you'll be the senior-most People team presence on the ground at our Columbus Fulfillment Center in Commercial Point, OH, supporting a seven-day, multi-shift operation and 350+ hourly team members. You'll work Monday–Friday onsite, with either an early shift (4:00am–12:30pm) or late shift (2:00pm–10:30pm) based on operational needs and your preference. This schedule allows you to provide consistent HR presence during peak operational hours, partner with supervisors during shift changes, and support team members across our fulfillment center's around-the-clock operation. You'll also be on call to address time-sensitive issues that arise outside your core hours, plus have the flexibility to provide coverage for early mornings or late nights when operational needs require additional support.

Your day-to-day will include a mix of frontline HR execution, floor presence, and leadership coaching. You'll handle sensitive team member concerns, conduct investigations, manage leaves and accommodations, and facilitate onboarding and offboarding with professionalism and empathy. You'll also own payroll operations for the site and maintain compliance through regular audits and documentation. Just as important, you'll educate and coach operational supervisors and assistant managers, helping them strengthen their leadership skills and confidently manage the full team member lifecycle—using People Ops as a strategic partner, not a bottleneck.

This role requires a proactive, judgment-driven HR leader who can operate independently, stay calm under pressure, and communicate with clarity across all levels. You'll balance empathy and accountability while empowering others, making real-time decisions and shaping long-term practices. You'll be a visible, approachable presence on the Fulfillment Center floor and a deeply connected collaborator with the broader People team across locations.

If you've thrived in fast-moving fulfillment environments, handled complex people issues, and love coaching frontline leaders toward better outcomes, this role will energize you.

Who You Are

  • 5–8 years of People Operations experience, including 3+ years supporting hourly teams in fulfillment, logistics, or manufacturing environments
  • Extensive employee relations experience—you've led investigations, coached managers through difficult conversations, and managed performance issues and terminations end-to-end
  • Deep experience managing leaves and accommodations—you've handled disability claims, FMLA, workplace injuries, and ADA processes from intake through resolution
  • Working knowledge of employment law—you can explain workplace regulations in clear, practical terms to team members and frontline leaders
  • 3+ years experience with HRIS platforms (Paylocity required)—you're comfortable auditing data, managing timecards, and handling payroll operations independently
  • Available to work Monday–Friday onsite with either an early shift (4:00am–12:30pm) or late shift (2:00pm–10:30pm) to support a 7-day, multi-shift fulfillment center operation, plus on-call availability and flexibility to provide coverage for early mornings or late nights when operational needs require additional support
  • Demonstrated judgment and discretion—you know when to act independently and when to escalate
  • Strong under pressure—you stay calm and professional during urgent situations, conflicts, and sensitive conversations
  • Proactive and preventative—you spot patterns early, solve immediate problems while building systems that stop them from recurring
  • Clear communicator—you explain HR policies and processes in language that lands with team members at all levels
  • Autonomous but connected—you thrive working independently onsite while staying aligned with the broader People Ops team
  • Visible and approachable on the floor—you build genuine rapport with hourly workers across shifts and are sought out as a trusted resource
  • You're comfortable and enthusiastic about working in an AI-forward environment where AI tools are part of daily operations. You embrace technology to enhance your work while keeping people at the center
  • Direct experience with Paylocity (HRIS/timekeeping)
  • Experience with Monday.com or similar project management/collaboration tools
  • Comfortable using ChatGPT or similar AI tools in HR workflows
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, Calendar)
  • Comfortable working in a MacBook environment
  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification required

How You Will Make An Impact

You will be the go-to People Ops team member on the ground for our Columbus Fulfillment Center. Your role will be both operational and strategic, supporting the work of the fulfillment center team and advising fulfillment leadership while also playing a key role in the Columbus People Team objectives. You will:

  • Be the first point of contact for team member questions, benefits inquiries, and People Ops support across three shifts at the Columbus Fulfillment Center
  • Maintain a visible and approachable presence on the Fulfillment Center floor, building trust with hourly team members and providing steady support during early or late shift hours
  • Own all payroll operations onsite, including timecard review, corrections, approvals, and coordination with HQ to ensure timely, accurate pay
  • Lead employee relations investigations, document findings, and coach supervisors through corrective actions, policy enforcement, and conflict resolution
  • Coach operational supervisors and assistant managers daily, helping them interpret policies, navigate people issues, and build confidence managing performance, attendance, and morale on their teams
  • Empower operational leadership to own the full team member lifecycle, using People Ops as a partner—not a crutch—to support hiring, onboarding, performance, recognition, and exits
  • Facilitate micro-trainings and just-in-time learning for site leaders, strengthening their soft skills, communication approaches, and understanding of HR fundamentals
  • Manage the full lifecycle of leaves, ADA accommodations, and workers' compensation cases, coordinating with benefits partners and site leadership
  • Conduct new hire onboarding, facilitate temp-to-perm transitions, and ensure team members have a consistent, high-quality experience regardless of shift
  • Track patterns and trends, spotting emerging issues before they escalate and surfacing insights that help prevent repeat problems
  • Run monthly audits in Paylocity, ensuring data integrity and compliance with documentation, timekeeping, safety policies, and employment law requirements
  • Translate policies and benefits information into clear, accessible explanations that help team members navigate complex topics confidently
  • Partner closely with the on-site People Ops Coordinator, ensuring clean scope boundaries and efficient handoffs between responsibilities
  • Collaborate regularly with the Columbus People Ops Manager, staying aligned on best practices, tools, and evolving priorities
  • Serve as on-call People Ops contact for escalations outside business hours, responding to time-sensitive issues with sound judgment and urgency

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
