Customer Success Contractor
We're building Backstroke, AI-powered email marketing for ecommerce brands.
Today, creating one email campaign takes brands many hours and involves multiple people. Strategy, design, copy, development, QA, approvals. It is slow, expensive, and leaves little time for testing, personalization, and learning.
We are rebuilding this from the ground up. Our platform generates complete, on-brand campaigns in minutes, with experimentation and personalization built in by default.
About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Customer Success Contractor. This role is ideal for someone early in their customer success or lifecycle marketing career who is eager to learn, highly organized, and excited to make an immediate impact in a fast-moving startup environment.
In this role, you’ll work closely with our leadership team to support day-to-day customer operations. You’ll help ensure our customers—primarily e-commerce and retail brands, growth marketers, and CRM/retention teams—are set up for success with Backstroke.
What You’ll Do

Run and support email marketing reporting and performance analysis (primarily in Klaviyo and other ESPs)

Help manage customer support and escalation tickets, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution

Assist in preparing materials and action items for customer meetings, including supporting the CEO

Support customer onboarding and ongoing engagement efforts

Join customer calls in a supporting capacity when needed

Collaborate cross-functionally to surface customer feedback and help address day-to-day needs

Stay organized and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced startup environment
What We’re Looking For

1–3 years of experience in customer success, account management, or lifecycle/email marketing (preferably supporting ecommerce brands)

Familiarity with Klaviyo or similar ESPs (e.g., Attentive, Listrak)

Comfort working with marketing data, running reports, and identifying basic performance insights

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through on details

Clear written and verbal communication skills

A proactive, problem-solving mindset and willingness to jump in where needed

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment
Nice To Have
- Exposure to AI tools or workflows
- Experience working at a startup or supporting high-growth teams
- Basic familiarity with HTML or technical troubleshooting (helpful but not required)
