Balsam Brands is the official global brand licensing partner for GE holiday lighting. The Assistant Merchant, GE is an early-career merchandising role that supports the execution of category strategies for the GE brand. This position partners closely with Merchants and Senior Merchants to help manage assortments, track performance, and bring products to market on time and on strategy. The role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytically curious individual looking to build a strong foundation in merchandising, category management, and cross-functional collaboration within a mass-market, omnichannel environment. 

This full-time position reports to the Senior Merchant, GE and is expected to work in a hybrid model, which currently includes Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in-office.  

 What you’ll do:  

  • Support day-to-day management of GE product categories, assisting with assortment maintenance, pricing updates, and lifecycle tracking 
  • Maintain and update assortment plans, line lists, and merchandising tools to ensure accuracy and visibility 
  • Assist with sales, margin, and inventory analysis; prepare recaps and reporting to inform merchandising decisions 
  • Partner with Planning and Operations to help manage inventory flow, forecasts, and basic replenishment needs 
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Product Development, Marketing, and Creative teams to support on-time product launches 
  • Support vendor communication, including sample tracking, documentation, and issue resolution 
  • Conduct competitive research and market analysis to identify trends and emerging opportunities 
  • Participate in seasonal milestones such as line reviews, style-outs, and launch readiness meetings 
  • Ensure product data accuracy across systems, including attributes, pricing, and packaging details 
  • Proactively identify process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce errors 

 What you bring to the table:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree   
  • 3+ years of experience in merchandising, buying, planning, or a related retail or consumer products role 
  • Strong analytical skills with high level of comfort working in Excel and basic financial reporting 
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills in a deadline-driven environment 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on execution 
  • Curiosity about consumer behavior, product trends, and retail dynamics 
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills 
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and take feedback

The base pay range for this position is: $66,000 - $82,000. Please note that placement within the posted salary range is based on several factors, including geographic location, experience, skills, alignment with role requirements and other job-related factors. It is uncommon for offers to be made at the top of the range, as this typically reflects a candidate who exceeds all role requirements and brings significant, directly applicable experience. We benchmark our pay ranges against current external data sources and regularly review compensation for our team members.
