Assistant Store Manager

Balsam Brands is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to assist in managing our Balsam Hill Studio retail store at Whalers Village in Lahaina, HI. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help ensure that our customers experience the magic of Balsam Hill in an inspired holiday setting. 

The Assistant Store Manager will work side by side with the Store Manager to create a positive work environment that ensures customer satisfaction, maximizes productivity, and drives sales. From providing excellent customer experiences, driving employee engagement, and leading merchandising and sales strategies, the Assistant Store Manager will play a crucial role in the success of Balsam Hill Studio. We are especially excited about candidates who have a proven track record of retail success and creating customer-centric shopping experiences! 

What you’ll do: 

  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences through personalized service, product expertise, and proactive problem resolution while fostering long-term customer relationships 
  • Lead the sales floor during assigned shifts by modeling effective selling behaviors, coaching associates in real time, and ensuring consistent execution of the customer experience 
  • Support achievement of store sales goals by coaching selling behaviors, monitoring performance trends, and driving results against key performance indicators including sales, conversion, average order value (AOV), and units per transaction (UPT) 
  • Gather customer insights and feedback and communicate observations to store leadership 
  • Coach associates on product knowledge, selling techniques, and customer engagement to support individual and store performance goals 
  • Maintain visual merchandising, promotional displays, replenishment, and overall store presentation in accordance with company standards 
  • Partner with the Store Manager to execute business priorities, drive employee engagement, and support achievement of sales, operational, and customer experience goals 
  • Support operational excellence through inventory accuracy, replenishment activities, cycle counts, shipment processing, and adherence to store policies and procedures. 
  • Assist with inventory management, stock organization, and loss prevention practices to maintain a well-presented and accurate selling environment 
  • Analyze store performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve sales, productivity, customer experience, and operational effectiveness 

 

What you bring to the table: 

  • 3+ years of retail experience.  Experience in specialty, boutique, luxury, gift, home, or visual-led retail preferred. 
  • Strong eye for visual merchandising, store presentation, and detail-oriented execution 
  • Strong communication skills with customers and sales staff 
  • Demonstrated time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills 
  • High ownership of store standards, follow-through, and the small details that shape the customer experience. 
  • Proficiency with iPads, basic computer skills, and basic data entry (data entry very minimal overall).  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite preferred 
  • Flexibility: willingness to perform other various duties as required 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to work onsite for every shift 
  • May assemble and disassemble Christmas trees and other decorations 
  • May lift and or move items up to forty pounds 

Notes: This is a full-time, in-person position. Candidates must live on-island in Maui.

The base pay range for this position is: $56,000-$70,000. Where an individual falls within that range will vary based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on candidate qualifications and experience, applicable skills, and other job-related factors. We benchmark our pay ranges against current external data sources and regularly review compensation for our team members. Balsam Brands is committed to providing our team members with an internally fair, externally competitive, and fiscally prudent total compensation package administered in a simple and consistent manner.
