Essential Job Duties

The Tax Notice Analyst I ensures the efficient and accurate resolution of payroll tax notices for our clients. This role involves researching tax agency rules, managing client tax maintenance within the BambooHR systems, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The Tax Notice Analyst I will also participate in developing strategies to prevent notices and improve team performance.

You will:

  • Notice Research and Resolution
    • Research and resolve payroll tax notices for our customer base.
    • Ensure timely and accurate identification of the root cause of notices
    • Research reasons and responsibilities for Penalty & Interest
  • Client and Agency Interaction
    • Assist with escalated issues with agencies and clients
    • Perform effective communication with clients and tax agencies via phone or email
  • System and Process Management
    • Provide internal support to Payroll teams 
    • Monitor the Service Cloud queues to ensure SLAs are met
    • Ensure adherence to department and company SOPs in Slite
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Collaborate with team members to create efficiencies and improve processes
    • Stay updated on tax changes and agency rules to prevent future notices
    • Ensure process documentation is kept up to date

  • Technical Knowledge
    • 1-2 years of payroll tax experience
    • Knowledge of payroll tax notices and related regulations
    • Proficiency in using Back Office and MasterTax systems
  • Passion for solving complex payroll questions and challenges
  • Enjoyment of research and problem-solving activities
  • Comfort with accounting and math problems
