Senior Software Engineer

5 days in-office. Non-negotiable. We’re shipping a product that will reach hundreds of millions of users in 6 to 12 months. You can’t do that on Zoom.

COMPENSATION

Base salary: $290,000–$310,000 (depending on experience)

Equity: 0.08%–0.12% (founding-team tier, meaningful)

The Mission

BankGPT is building personal financial intelligence for every American. An AI that aggregates every account you have, reasons about your complete financial life, and autonomously acts to make you wealthier — better rates found, bills negotiated, savings optimized, subscriptions cancelled, products matched. We believe we’re building the single biggest consumer AI product in financial services, and we have a distribution channel that gets us to day-one reach that other consumer apps can only dream of.

We’re hiring three senior engineers to own the hardest, most leveraged systems in the product. These are not individual contributor roles in the FAANG sense — they’re technical leadership roles from day one.

What You’ll Do

• Own a core system end-to-end. Depending on your background, this could be: the multi-model AI orchestration layer (GPT-4, Claude, Gemini routing by task), the financial data aggregation and enrichment layer, the Computer Use engine for legacy system automation, the agent/platform runtime, or the consumer app architecture.
• Set technical direction. You’ll make decisions that shape how the product scales to millions of users.
• Mentor and unblock mid-level engineers. Raise the team’s bar by example.
• Work directly with Bruce (CTO) on architecture decisions across the stack. Work with Srinivas (CEO) on product decisions that affect your system.
• Ship production code. We don’t believe in senior engineers who don’t code.

What We’re Looking For

• 6+ years of production engineering experience with at least 2 years of senior-level ownership at a consumer-scale product.
• Deep technical chops in one or more of: distributed systems, AI/LLM integration at scale, mobile app architecture, real-time data systems, or browser automation / agent runtimes.
• You’ve shipped a thing that a million+ people use. You know what it takes to operate at that scale.
• Extreme AI fluency. You don’t just use Claude/Cursor — you’ve rebuilt your own engineering workflow around AI to move 3x faster. You have strong opinions about which models to use for which tasks.
• Hunger over credentials. We’ll take a senior engineer from a no-name startup who’s shipped three hard systems over a 10-year FAANG vet who’s been doing the same thing since 2018.
• Consumer product or B2C fintech experience is a plus, not required. We care more about whether you can learn a new domain in weeks.
• Willingness to be in the office 5 days a week with the founding team. This role is not for people who want hybrid.
