Senior Designer (Freelance)

As a freelancer on the Barbarian Creative team, you’ll help shape consumer behavior through bold ideas, creativity, and interactive media. You’ll contribute to digital marketing, communications, and advertising for some of the world’s leading brands. As a Senior Designer (Freelance), you lead with craft, creating standout digital work with a sharp eye for compelling visuals that align with each brand’s unique style and aesthetic. You have a desire to concept and design to an industry leading standard. You are flexible and collaborative, working with a team of copywriters, animators, etc. to create fresh ideas and support the Design Director and CCO by ensuring high-quality work from both yourself and junior members of the team.

  • Creative briefs: Understands and responds to briefs. Immediately identifies any gaps. Asks the right questions during briefings to ensure clear direction and effective action.
  • Idea generation: Leads and sets the standard by inspiring creative teammates to develop groundbreaking ideas and deliver world-class solutions. Plays an active role in brainstorming or idea generation and communicates thoughts clearly.  
  • Creative craft skills: Establishes art direction, story, style and tone of communication. Proposes, executes and delivers innovative design experiences (including but not limited to interface, interaction, visual identity etc.) across all digital platforms. 
  • Supplier management skills: Manages, organizes, and archives assets, consistently applying archiving principles and ensuring the team follows proper procedures.
  • New business development: Contributes to design and creation of assets for pitches working closely with Design Director, Creative Directors, and CCO.

Able to present information effectively via multiple channels and is at ease presenting ideas or solutions in team meetings or the  occasional larger group setting.  

Qualifications and experience  

  • Proven experience in designing (online or offline) including ad campaigns, social media  campaigns / emails, online campaigns, microsites, websites and mobile experiences.
  • Highly proficient in using common software: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects,  Sketch, Figma, Keynote, and other relevant software.  
  • A degree in Design, Advertising Communication or other design/writing-related courses preferred  by not required.  
  • Experience working in a creative/agency environment is a must.
