Barbaricum is seeking a Journeyman Data Manager to assess, process, and support data collection while providing analytical exploitation of assessment data. This role directly supports the execution of policies, plans, and strategies for the anticipated Headquarters Air Force Mission Assurance (MA) Program. The USAF MA program identifies, assesses, prioritizes, and oversees risk management actions for Department of War (DoW) and USAF critical assets in accordance with DoDD 3020.40 and DODI 3020.45.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and document policies for data collection, storage, and retrieval across Major Commands (MAJCOM) and Numbered Air Force (NAF) Mission Assurance (MA) offices.
  • Monitor data integrity, resolve structural discrepancies, and clean databases for analysis through the implementation of the Integrated Assessment Schedule and Data Assessment Focus Statements.
  • Perform trend analysis, threat vulnerability assessments, and dependency mapping to generate actionable mission data.
  • Sustain secure data pipelines and architectures within specialized government networks and platforms (e.g., Palantir Foundry), ensuring continuous data availability to COCOMs, MAJCOMs, NAFs, and Wings via designated MA systems of record.
  • Execute data management workflows in strict compliance with Department of the Air Force (DAF) and Joint Staff Mission Assurance policies.
  • Identify, prioritize, and validate foundational data supporting Mission Essential Tasks (METs) for operational planning (OPLANs/CONPLANs).
  • Facilitate the annual USAF asset validation process and perform mission decomposition to map dependencies of critical Air Force assets.
  • Maintain strict metadata standards and governance frameworks to guarantee the long-term discoverability, reliability, and security of intelligence assessment databases.
  • Represent the data management program in DAF and Joint Staff MA Working Groups, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Develop automated dashboards, interactive briefs, and detailed information papers to communicate technical MA metrics to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Clearance: Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience with DoW, specifically dealing with critical infrastructure, readiness, or operations.
  • Certifications: Palantir Foundry Data Engineer Certification preferred.
  • Passport & Travel: Valid US passport; ability to travel CONUS or OCONUS approximately 25% of the time.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills with people at all levels. Proven ability to coordinate with inter-agency and inter-service partners.
  • Core Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, deep understanding of risk management principles/methodologies, and a proven ability to take initiative in a team environment to meet tight timelines.

Desired Qualifications

  • Staff Experience: Experience working on large G, J, or A staffs. Candidates with experience working at MAJCOMs or NAFs in requirements or plans and programs are highly desired.
  • Domain Expertise: Relevant experience in a Mission Assurance related discipline including Force Protection, Civil Engineering, Emergency Management, Intelligence, Communications, Airfield Operations, or Cybersecurity.
  • Systems Familiarity: Prior experience with Mission Assurance databases, Mission Assurance Risk Management System (MARMS) applications, or familiarity with Maven, Envision, and Palantir Foundry Platforms.
