Barbaricum is seeking a Senior Palantir Foundry Engineer to support the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO). This position provides hands-on technical leadership in designing, developing, integrating, and optimizing data solutions within the Palantir Foundry platform, translating complex operational requirements into scalable data products, pipelines, and analytical capabilities.

This is a senior-level Palantir Foundry engineering role — not a general data engineering role with limited Foundry exposure. The successful candidate will independently design and implement Foundry data products, develop pipelines and Ontology models, integrate mission data sources, troubleshoot complex platform issues, and work directly with USASOC CDAO stakeholders to deliver operational capabilities. They will collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, data scientists, analysts, mission owners, and government stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and mission-focused data solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines, datasets, and data products within the Palantir Foundry platform.
  • Develop and optimize Foundry pipelines using Python, SQL, PySpark, and Foundry-native technologies.
  • Build and maintain Foundry data transformations, workflows, datasets, and analytical applications supporting USASOC mission requirements.
  • Develop and manage Ontology models that represent operational entities, relationships, actions, and mission data.
  • Integrate data from disparate enterprise, operational, and mission systems into Foundry.
  • Design data ingestion, transformation, validation, and quality processes to ensure reliable and trusted data products.
  • Work with data scientists, analysts, and mission users to operationalize analytical models and workflows within Foundry.
  • Develop reusable data products and services that support CDAO analytics and decision-making capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures, data quality issues, performance problems, and integration challenges.
  • Optimize Foundry pipelines and data products for scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Support the development and deployment of Foundry applications and workflows that provide actionable insights to mission stakeholders.
  • Apply data governance, access controls, security requirements, and data management practices within the platform.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and systems engineering teams to ensure data solutions operate within applicable security and authorization requirements.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and translate mission requirements into technical implementation plans.
  • Document data architectures, pipeline designs, integrations, dependencies, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on Foundry development, data engineering, and platform best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement of CDAO’s data engineering architecture, development standards, and engineering practices.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, stand-ups, demonstrations, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
  • Coordinate directly with government technical leads and mission stakeholders to identify requirements, resolve technical issues, and prioritize development efforts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI per contract requirements.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, data platform engineering, or a related technical discipline, including demonstrated hands-on development within Palantir Foundry.
  • Experience designing and implementing production-grade data pipelines and data products.
  • Experience integrating data from multiple structured and unstructured sources.
  • Experience working with relational and non-relational data technologies.
  • Experience supporting data engineering solutions in DoD, federal, or other mission-critical environments.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Experience collaborating directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate mission requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong communicator able to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and government stakeholders, translate ambiguous operational requirements into practical solutions, and serve as a mentor and technical leader who raises engineering standards across the team.
