Motion Designer/Editor

Barkley Films is looking for a talented motion designer to inspire and elevate every project they touch. From concept to execution this position will be able to contribute across the board to branded campaigns working between designers and filmmakers to create awe-inspiring work.
This candidate should be a motivated self-starter looking to push the boundaries on everything from social to broadcast. Exploration, inspiration, and experimentation in your craft are a must. This role requires strong skills in both motion design and video editing, with the ability to bring ideas to life through animation, pacing, sound, and storytelling. Familiarity with emerging creative technologies, including generative AI platforms, is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Concept Design and execute a wide range of motion graphic animation across digital platforms
- Manage multiple projects concurrently
- Projects will include editing video, compilations, and sizzles, producing original video content for social and overall motion graphics and video support
- Creating original content for social to promote our brands, service, and programming, including for IG, IG Stories, IG Reels, FB, Twitter, TikTok
- Develop, design, and create next-level motion digital, video, multimedia, graphics, animations, and immersive experiences content
- Provide the highest level service to clients in a proactive, creative, and professional manner
- Provide input on project plans as needed
- Apply light character animation to create small motion sequences with our illustrated library, with the opportunity to bring in custom illustrations and scenes.
- Edit short- and mid-form video content (commercial spots, sizzles, reels, case studies) with strong storytelling, pacing, and sound design sensibilities.
- Brainstorm other applications for motion across our output, with opportunities for longer-form projects as well.
- Engage strong graphic design skills to assist with static assets across marketing and advertising materials, including social, email, digital ads, and more.
- Explore and test AI-assisted tools (e.g., Photoshop Generative Fill, Premiere Pro AI features, Runway, Midjourney) to support concepting and rapid creative iteration
Qualifications:
Proven experience in motion design and animation for client-based agencies and/or broadcast/film in a deadline-driven environment
- Significant knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency in After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Exceptional design skills including layout and typography experience
- Good sense of timing and screen composition
- Demonstrated experience editing short- and long-form video content, with proficiency in narrative pacing, transitions, and music/sound integration.
- Ability to work independently and under close direction
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of video codecs and formats as well as video/broadcast and web standards
- Client management experience and interpersonal skills a must
- Degree in Media Arts (or equivalent) is required
- 3 years experience working in the digital design services industry
- Cinema 4D or other 3D applications
- Experience with color correction, color treatment, special effects and music selection
- Knowledge of the principles, techniques, technology and current standards of video production and shot composition
- Familiarity with generative AI platforms and curiosity to explore how they can enhance creative workflows
