About the Role

This position is in Baron’s Investor Information and Data Group. The Group plays a vital role in the acquisition of new business and the retention of existing business by being a source and producer of information and data required to satisfy investor due diligence requirements. The Group is responsible for completing RFPs, DDQs, and RFIs received from any sales channel across the Firm (Institutional, Intermediary, and RIA). The group completes Compliance questionnaires (such as 15Cs) and responds to most one-off questions requiring written responses. The Group also populates and maintains external consultant databases with quantitative and qualitative information. The Group maintains a repository of knowledge covering the Firm and its products, and updates content consistently to address new inquires, reflect product and Firm changes, or to enhance the caliber of communication.

The Group collaborates with departments across the Firm to craft compelling, accurate, and robust responses to investor questions. All requests for information come through the team, which gives the Group firsthand knowledge of topics important to clients and prospects.

The Associate will be responsible for writing content and responding to questionnaires of varying lengths and complexities, as assigned the Group head.

The Associate will learn about the Firm and its products while following the Group’s process and implementing the Firm’s Writing Style Guide.

Key Responsibilities

Core tasks include:

  • Managing RFP/RFI process from beginning to end, meeting all deadlines and communicating appropriately with key stakeholders (sales, reviewers, etc. )
  • Producing written content that is accurate, concise, persuasive, and responsive
  • Collaborating effectively across the Firm to gather information, and leverage interactions to update/improve upon existing content

The ideal candidate will:

  • Learn the Firm’s strategies, investment philosophy, and processes and be able to clearly articulate them in writing
  • Thrive independently with consistent coaching
  • Interface effectively with groups/key individuals who provide data and insights in order to help answer questions more thoroughly (e.g., Sales, investment team, compliance/legal, trading, portfolio and risk analytics, etc.). Digest new information and use insights to enhance future
  • Build an understanding of clients' unique requests and creatively tailor responses

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • A four-year bachelor’s degree
  • 1 - 2 years of experience in the investment management or financial services industry
  • Familiarity and/or experience with financial writing, RFPs, journalism

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong editing skills
  • Refined research skills and high degree of intellectual curiosity
  • Able to maintain the Group’s standards and constantly seeks to improve quality of output
  • Driven by winning new business, persistent
  • Comfortable handling several requests at once. Works well under pressure and can communicate effectively to manage the many moving parts of most requests
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Proficient/Expert user of Microsoft Office software (mainly Word and Excel)
  • Positive attitude and mature
  • Continuous learner

The base salary range for this position is based on skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. It is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. It also participates in the Firm's 401(k) and Profit-Sharing Plan.
