Electronics Design Engineer
Our mission at Base is to fix the power grid and enable affordable and reliable electricity for all. To do that, we are building America’s Next-Generation Power Company; the first engineering-led, technology-focused, R&D-driven electricity company. We are a team of tenacious engineers, operators, and creatives who have solved hard problems and are here to do it again.
We are looking for an Electronics Design Engineer with experience designing and validating complex electrical systems. You will be responsible for end-to-end design of Base’s energy storage systems—including inverters, batteries, and interconnect devices—through manufacturing and field deployment.
This role is ideal for someone who’s taken systems from schematic to production and knows how to debug and validate at the board and system level. You should be comfortable working with high voltage designs, embedded systems, and hardware validation in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. most reliable, cost efficient, high performance batteries and inverters in the world
Responsibilities:
- End-to-end ownership of energy storage systems (inverter, battery, Microgrid interconnect device) designs including specifications, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, board bring up, validation, and overseeing reliability and functional testing.
- Collaboration with cross functional teams (mechanical, firmware, test, reliability etc.) to see products through high volume manufacturing.
- Design and execute high voltage and high current validation of inverter, battery and BMS designs.
- Debug complex component interactions at the system level.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Digital and analog circuit design, including high voltage circuits or power supply design.
- Printed circuit board design (Altium) and initial bring-up: debugging, soldering, wiring, mechanical assembly.
- Familiarity with embedded firmware, microcontrollers and their peripherals, python scripting or similar.
- Familiarity with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies.
- Experience with power semiconductors (MOSFETs, IGBTs).
- Knowledge of electric motors, thermal design, and/or mechanical design.
- Experience with automotive networking (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
- Basic control theory, including importance of sensor bandwidths, filtering.
If you’re passionate about tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time, now is the time to join us. Together, we can usher in a new era of American energy abundance by developing the hardware, software, and deployment operations that make it possible.
