Platform Engineer

Cloud services at Base are core to our mission and success. Our services command a distributed fleet of energy systems, manage electricity service for homes across Texas, and accelerate our deployment operations through automation and modern tooling. As a software engineer on this team, you’ll be responsible for designing and building robust software systems to manage, monitor, and control the heart of Base.

Responsibilities:

  • Build Scalable Systems: Design and implement backend services and APIs.
  • Cloud Mastery: Develop and optimize cloud applications in Golang and Python.
  • Automate with Precision: Employ Terraform to manage infrastructure as code, and Temporal to orchestrate complex workflows for deployment and operations.
  • Collaborate with the Best: Work closely with our data scientists, IoT experts, and product designers to create seamless solutions that connect hardware, data, and the cloud.
  • Solve for Impact: Every line of code contributes to revolutionizing the grid that powers our society.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in professional software development. More experience is valued as we're hiring across all levels.
  • Proficiency in a backend language (Go, Python, Java, or similar).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • A passion for writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Bonus: Experience with IoT, distributed systems, or DevOps practices.
  • An eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute to an ambitious team.
