IT Lead
Our mission at Base is to fix the power grid and enable affordable and reliable electricity for all. To do that, we are building America’s Next-Generation Power Company; the first engineering-led, technology-focused, R&D-driven electricity company. We are a team of tenacious engineers, operators, and creatives who have solved hard problems and are here to do it again.
We are looking for an IT Lead to play a critical role in building and maintaining the technological backbone of the company. You’ll be responsible for creating processes and policies that support our day-to-day operations, with a strong emphasis on security, scalability, and ease of use for all employees.
You will be expected to wear many hats and provide whatever support is needed within the company. You’ll be the first point of contact for all internal technical needs across the organization, ensuring systems run smoothly, tools are integrated effectively, and employees have the support and resources they need to work on day 1. You will be responsible for onboarding and offboarding processes, provisioning hardware and software, configuring accounts, and ensuring seamless access to internal systems for new hires.
Responsibilities:
- Provide in-office and remote IT support to all employees during business hours, with intermittent off-hours support required.
- Create and maintain internal documentation.
- Onboarding/Offboarding, both hardware and software.
- SSO/SCIM integration for all new software.
- Develop and own the implementation of an annual IT roadmap aligned with company quarterly OKRs.
- Maintaining and setting up any networking or security equipment for current and new company sites.
- Develop and deploy (inclusive of physical implementation work) internal network for factory site(s).
- Provisioning and maintaining our security systems, such as firewalls, antivirus, and IDS.
- Provide support and insight into compliance requirements such as SOC 2.
- Maintain software licensing and SaaS subscriptions to align with company’s budget.
- Improve and operate asset management and RMA processes.
- Provide organization and structure to physical assets at the office.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- 5+ years of IT or network engineering experience in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with Unifi networking equipment and deploying physical network infrastructure in an enterprise setting.
- Extensive knowledge of both Windows and Mac operating systems.
- SaaS Administration experience (GSuite/Slack/Zoom/Jira/Rippling/etc).
- Asset management experience.
- Soft skills with a customer first attitude (employees in this case).
- Experience maintaining a server room/network closet.
- Self motivated and ability to anticipate problems.
If you’re passionate about tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time, now is the time to join us. Together, we can usher in a new era of American energy abundance by developing the hardware, software, and deployment operations that make it possible.
Our Values:
We’re building a winning culture, and we’re looking for people who are up for the challenge. These are the values we expect you to embrace from day one:
- In-Person Work: We work full-time in the office. There is no hybrid or remote work.
- Challenge Assumptions: We’re not here to do things the way they’ve always been done. We look for people who question the status quo and improve broken systems. We are guided by principles, not rules.
- Operate with Urgency: Speed matters. We focus on what’s essential, make fast progress, and iterate quickly. Execution drives learning, and learning drives impact. Always have a bias for action.
- Give & Seek Feedback: We value intellectual honesty. We expect you to challenge ideas (even your own), give direct feedback, and receive it with humility.
- Deliver: We are high achievers with a drive to win. We take end-to-end accountability for seeing our work through and delivering on our responsibilities.
- Think Like an Owner: We are all owners of the business. We use our time and resources wisely and take personal responsibility for our impact on the bottom line.
- Be Opinionated: Great people make decisions with imperfect information. Eliminate murky ownership and drive towards decisions.
- Bring the Intensity: This is not a 9-to-5 job. We are building something hard, and that requires real commitment.
