Want to join our team as a Temporary Designer, Apparel?
The Designer, Apparel will be responsible for assisting in the design process, from initial concept development through product delivery. This includes trend, color and fabric direction leading up to line development, tech pack development, CADS and samples. The Designer, Apparel will work with the design team, product development team, technical designer and brand team to help provide a trend appropriate and functional quality product for our customer. This is a 6-month 24 hour per week temporary position based out of our Exeter, NH office location.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Execute all flat sketches, construction call outs and art sheets for overseas sample development and production.
- Manage lab dip and strike-off corrections and approvals.
- Conduct frequent research in the marketplace for new and current trends.
- Make revisions to design sketches and design packages as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining merchandise boards.
- Responsible for creating inspiration boards, mini boards for sales tools etc.
- Assist in the conceptual, product, fabric development of the line.
- Partner with technical designer for garment fit and construction.
Qualifications:
- BS or BA in Fashion Design or related field- or equivalent years of relevant and related experience.
- 5-7 years related apparel design experience in Men’s/Women’s activewear, outerwear, knitwear etc.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe CS (illustrator, knowledge of photoshop a plus).
- Knowledge of CLO 3D a plus
- Knowledge of garment construction and textiles.
- Good eye for trend and color and ability to translate that into designs.
- Experience working with seasonal design development calendars and different retail customers.
- Team player who can collaborate in a demanding deadline driven environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate at all levels of organization.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and business needs.
