The Developer, Sticks is an integral member of the R&D team, managing development projects from briefing process to commercialization of the product, for the Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Sticks category. This role reports to the Director, Product Development- Lacrosse.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Manage development projects from the briefing process to commercialization of the product both domestically and internationally.
- Collaboration with other processes to assist in sourcing as well as in the development and/or implementation of manufacturing processes and QC guidelines.
- Prepares communications and updates regarding projects status to lead category meetings.
- Maintains knowledge and keeps up to date with current technology that is relevant to product category to proactively advance future product lines.
- Manages an advanced project list to continually push innovation.
- Serves as focal point for collaboration with all team members in R&D, Brand, QC and production such as researchers, engineers, designers, field testing, marketing, etc.
- Ensures the feedback and information gathered from field testing, marketing and other groups are considered in product design and development.
- Manage the validation and testing process throughout the development process.
- Cultivate and maintain a lacrosse IQ, specific to the category. Understand and follow trends in various industries.
- Track and analyze all aspects of product pricing, FOB to meet product cost targets and support margin-related objectives including when appropriate tooling amortization.
- May travel 10-15% of the time both domestically and internationally to factories, vendors & testing sites to monitor and trouble-shoot product development and testing, research materials or resolve other issues.
- Communicates technical information to labs and appropriate organizations as needed.
- Assists in the development of product standards as needed.
Qualifications:
- BS or BA in Engineering, Industrial Design or related field- or equivalent years of relevant and related experience.
- 2+ years of experience working in product development/manufacturing/project management.
- Experience, understanding and using engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of document management, engineering change procedures, version control.
- General knowledge and experience with composites are a plus.
- Knowledge and abilities in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator and/or 2D & 3D CAD specialized software preferred.
- Previous knowledge or experience with FEA Software is a plus.
- Comfortable working in office with the ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group.
- Excellent attention to details and deadlines.
- Ability to work multiple, complex, projects with minimal supervision.
- Possess excellent organizational and creative problem-solving skills.
- Understands technology trends and how to translate them to product application.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills.
- Background and/or interest in lacrosse equipment.
- Ability to travel abroad (Canada & Asia) 5-10% of the time.
- Travel as needed and/or required by essential job functions.
