The Production Supervisor is an integral member of the Production team, responsible for supervising production associates and coordinating flow of product through the facility.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Assists in the coordination of production processes and activities, maintenance, and quality to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
- Monitors product standards and ensures operations are in keeping with programs and operating methods.
- Monitors the production processes, adjusts, or revises production lines, ensuring goods are produced efficiently with correct quantities, quality and cost.
- Supervises and coordinate activities of workers engaged in processing and/or the development of products.
- Trains new and current employees and seasonal workers in operation of equipment, procedures, and policies.
- Responsible for giving performance and/or disciplinary feedback and conducting performance reviews in accordance with company policies.
- Evaluates materials and products to maintain organization standards.
- Follows all company policies, programs, regulations, and safety rules in support of achieving departmental, plant and corporate goals for productivity, safety, and quality.
- Coordinates with schedulers and other departments to organize work for smooth operations.
- Provides suggestions and ideas to improve efficiency of production facility layout.
- Provides reports to various departments as required.
- Monitors daily goals and achievements and communicates progress to Plant Manager.
- Leads production employees in continuous improvement initiatives and activities. Including but not limited to safety, job training, quality, and waste reduction.
- Leads by example and creates atmosphere of accountability in the workplace.
- Conducts team goal-setting meetings and delivers timely performance reviews.
- Makes employee recognition and discipline recommendations as needed.
- Performs administrative and data entry responsibilities, as required.
- Must be able to work as needed, when needed, to ensure efficient operations and product delivery.
- May perform any of the duties on the assembly line, shipping, receiving as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree preferred plus 1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing operations including supervisory experience.
- Previous experience with lean manufacturing practices preferred.
- Demonstrates ability to make decisions, solve problems, and manage stress.
- Extensive technical knowledge of parts and product is essential.
- Previous experience with SAP is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English required.
- Maintains professional and harmonious departmental relationships.
- Ability to effectively prioritize daily workload.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be familiar with obligations under the OSHA.
